I just threw this together to show some examples of jumping styles & the ideal hunter jump.

The first is a good stadium jump. While stadium jumpers can technically jump in any form, they still must be athletic and effective. I included this to show how the horses' legs can be more tucked under and don't have to be square. His head and neck are also less "reachy" than most hunters'. Although the reach sometimes depends on the effort the horse is exerting over the jump! A horse jumping in this form would do fine in lower level hunters, though, since his legs are even and he is jumping very neatly.

The second is an example of a hunter equitation horse. DA-HA may hold some equitation shows, and while the horse can jump in this style or in the style of a show hunter, horses with a flatter jump are often preferred for equitation.

The third is good form for a hunter. The horses' body is very round and he has even, square knees.
