I made this for the Elements contest hosted byElementals Contest (CLOSED!)Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Uranium? What's this? A CONTEST? My challenge for you is to create a stock and/or art piece depicting elementals/elements whether it be of the traditional elements or the newfangled chemistry elements. I want to see your creativity!
There are no required stocks and the contest is open to stockers, traditional artists, and digital artists.
Clarification: You can depict as many of the elements as you wish in your entry whether it be one or many. You can do the earth, water, fire, air type elementals, or elementals related to chemistry elements, or even elementals that combine both types of elements!
There are three categories:

Art: Digital

To submit your entry either comment on this journal or send me them via note.
I have an exam Tuesday and won't have much time unt
For my element I chose Lithium. Lithium is often used chemically in nuclear devices and industrially as medicine to treat bipolar disorder (among other illnesses). What I attempted to depict are the highs and lows of dealing with bipolar disorder, and the tightrope you walk on when you suffer from it. Being bipolar, the really bad days can feel apocalyptic...as if a lithium fused bomb could eminently explode outside your window and things still couldn't get emotionally worse than they are at the moment. While on really good days you might feel weightless...on cloud nine. Every angle is a good one.
I hope this manipulation in some ways illustrates both sides of the illness.
Thanks for looking

I think you did a great job. I'm bipolar as well (with a bunch of other things added in to make life more...interesting) and I think you've conveyed the possibilities of both up and down very well. Having only spent about a year on Lithium after a lifetime of needing it, I really appreciate that thin little safety rope that keeps me from falling completely. I just miss the good parts of manic episodes...too bad there's not a way to keep those!

Really interesting piece, especially more so when coupled with the explanation (an ex, who had been on lithium also for bipolar) used to say: "lithium is for batteries, not brains" Well done

I love the concept. You didn't just chose an element and do something obvious, you really thought this through ! I find it illustrates very well both sides and I love the idea of the rope.

I definitely went for the obvious in several other tries, but I liked this concept the best so it's what got finished. And I'm happy you think it represents both sides. I was nervous about that part because it's such a serious topic.
