Finaly done! I've spent a while on this, and I'm proud with the outcome! For once I'm 100% satisfied with the digital work, now I'm getting what ~IronShrineMaiden was saying about the tools..

This is from one of my favourite worlds in Kingdom Hearts 2, Port Royal. The missions and music I like, but the character's voice actors... Let's just say that I snort whenever hearing captain Barbossa's voice. This illustration shows Sora, Donald Duck, Goofy, captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner on the HMS Interceptor on their way to Isla de Muerta, where Elizabeth Swann is held captive by the undead pirates and where the Black Pearl is.

Picture facts:
I used screencapture references of the guys, ship and sky when doing the lineart (PotC DVD on Isla de Muerta), but I was stupid enough to forget them when colouring this. Oh well, I managed.
I struggled A LOT during the sketching progress.... The poses were very hard for me to pull off, especially Jack's. He has to use the compass in this picture, otherwise they wouldn't have found their way in the first place. I didn't like the idea of everyone on the ship standing at the same time, so I decided that Sora would stare at the island sitting on a crate. (it's there against any reasonable logic, right next to the stairs. ) I wanted Donald and Goofy in the picture too because you don't see them as often in KH fanart as they deserve to be in! Much love for those two.
This is actually a mixed media picture, if there had been a category for that I'd put it there. The sky, ocean and island were painted with traditional watercolours (about 3 hours, nothing compared to the digital work...), everything else were coloured with Corel Painter IX.
As you may have noticed, I wanted to give the illustration a dark and serious mood. (they're on a rescue mission for crying out loud!) I'm not that used to colour characters etc with a night shade, but it turned out surprisingly well with the blue/purple tones.
