My second background for a picture for and third sketch (see scraps). It's been sooo much fun working on this pic. Thanks so much to Yume for letting me draw her ava. Horray for cute bunnies and cute skirts and what they hideRelated content

That's kinda... wrong O.O but it's still such a good pic ^_^ Excellent use of color, but also, incredible background! How did you manage to do that? It compliments the character so well!

Thanks!! This background was tons of fun to do. First I started with a blue and white gradient for the sky and lights. Then on a seperate layer I added the leaves by taking that oval looking brush in photoshop7 and modifiying so that it varied between the foreground/background colors and then scattered it. Then I picked some fall colors and did a few passes for some the leaves. (I also had it vary the size and angle so all the leaves were different). After looking at a few pictures of fall forests I decided that it would be okay to do single color tree trunks and just sorta squiggled them in. After I had all the tree trunks on top of the leaves, I erased some of the trunks so it looked like the leaves were in front. Finaly I merged the leaves and the trees, duplicated it, then blurred the duplicate. The blurred layer was then set to 50% or so opacity (or something like that) and left on top of the non blur area to make it look like there were more leaves at different depths and stuff. Tho I think the real trick was finding some really inspiring fall shots that complemented the low angle.

i'm gunna draw you the most awesome things ever, just you wait! i'm not gunna have any spare time to do it in between classes and work until this weekend, but just you wait and see, your devwatch will be filled with many cute and lacey things with your name all over them 8___8
