Ryan was a padawan. He was part of a small group sent to investigate an ancient Jedi temple that had just been discovered. Its exact age was unknown but most likely it had been abandoned for thousands of years and was in service for thousands of years before that. He knew he had to be careful. Whatever caused the temple to become abandoned in the first place might still be around.

While exploring the basement, Ryan discovered a secret staircase leading down even further. The staircase went on for much longer than he expected but eventually it did end. It led not to a room but to the Vergence Scatter, better known as the world between worlds. Ryan was overwhelmed by the place. It seemed to go on forever.

All around him voices from the past, present, and future could be heard. Ryan only recognized a few of them. Navigating through the vast network of pathways, he eventually reached a portal similar to the one he went through to get there. An image appeared at the opening.

It featured a Togruta female with two white lightsabers, one in each hand. She seemed concerned and was prepared for battle. Ryan wanted to help her. Instinctively he went through the portal in order to help her. However, when he did that things did not go as he expected.

Ryan found he, or she, had become the Togruta female he had seen. A quick look in the nearest reflective surface confirmed this. She discovered she had orange skin with natural white markings. Instead of hair, she had head tails which had blue and white stripes. She was dressed in gray and held her lightsabers behind her back without flinching.

Just a few minutes earlier, Ryan would have been unable to hold two lightsabers in such a position, but as this new woman she found she naturally had the ability. A name came to her ... Ashoka. That was who she was.

Suddenly another thought came to her. The image of Ashoka showed that she was concerned and prepared for battle. This concerned her. Who was she going to battle? In the distance she heard a mechanical breathing sound that was all too familiar.

"Darth Vader!" she gasped. "This does not look good."
