Ryan looked more or less like any other human being did. He was 25 years old with brown hair and brown eyes. His clothing consisted of a black shirt, green jacket, blue jeans, white socks with orange stripes, and yellow and white tennis shoes. It was a vast collection of colors in one outfit. The back shirt had a picture of Cruz Ramirez on it. Ryan did not think much of it at the time but that was about to change.

There was a problem with the garage door. It did not open and shut properly. Ryan could pay hundreds of dollars to hire somebody to fix it or he could fix it himself. The latter seemed like the obvious solution. Ryan moved his car outside and left the garage door open. He climbed up a ladder to get a closer look at what was causing that strange sound every time the garage door was moved.

To his surprise, Ryan found a toy car up there. It was Cruz Ramirez, the same character he had on his shirt. It seemed to pulse and glow. The shock of this caused him to fall off the ladder with a loud crash. The ladder wobbled. Although it did not fall, it hit the framework or the garage door which in turn caused the car to fall and enter Ryan's open mouth.

Ryan instinctively swallowed the car. He was unsure why he did it. He did not go around swallowing cars every day, but somehow it just seemed natural to him. Then his body started to glow like the car did. He would have run away, but he had nowhere to run since the glow was coming from his own body.

His arms and legs became round and black with his body changed to a bright yellow. His mouth moved outward while his eyes moved back and formed a windshield. Somehow he, or she, had become female. She was not entirely sure how she knew this since cars should not have gender.

That was the strangest thing of all. Ryan had become an animated car. It was not just any animated car. It was Cruz Ramirez, the same character she had seen in the garage and had on her shirt. Cruz Ramirez accepted her new identity. Ryan was just a memory. At this point she decided the best thing to do was go out onto the road for a test drive, which she did.

It did not take long for Cruz to reach Rust-eze Racing Center. When she did, Sterling spotted her and drove over to her. He told her that Lightning McQueen wanted to talk to her. Knowing it was her job, she immediately went over to him. Lightning explained that he was having problems with one of the turns and wanted her to look over the results. She went over to her computer and looked over the data which she instinctively understood. She had a busy day ahead of her.
