London, 14, was vacationing with his family in France. They decided to go to the beach. London spent most of the day in the water. He did not expect anything unusual to happen. When he went back on shore to rest, he did not notice a ladybug crawling up his right hand.

The ladybug was a miraculous filled with magical energy. As London relaxed, the ladybug crawled up his arm and bit him. He winced from the pain. Immediately he stood up and brushed the ladybug away, but by that time the changes had already begun.

It started with a big red bite mark on his right arm near his shoulder. The pain faded as the redness spread to his entire body. It merged with his swimsuit creating a red outfit that covered his entire body. Only his head remained visible. Black spots appeared all over it making it resemble a ladybug.

His hair grew out and split into pigtails. Next his body transformed. London slimmed down and gained feminine features as his masculine ones disappeared. Breasts appeared on his body. Once the changes were complete he, or she, had become fully female. London grew slightly taller as she became slightly older. The change was subtle yet distinct giving her a look different than any look she had before.

Earrings appeared in her ears. This caused her memories to change. As far as she was concerned, she had always been Ladybug and had always been female. The name London faded from her mind. It was replaced with the name Marine. The magical energy created a ripple effect causing a similar change in memory starting with her parents and spreading to the other side of the world until everyone remembered her only as Marine.

Finally a mask appeared around her eyes hiding the fact that Marine was Ladybug from most of the world. As far as they were concerned, when she was in the outfit she was Ladybug. The ladybug she had brushed off earlier returned. She explained her name was Tikki and Ladybug had the responsibility of protecting the city. Ladybug, secretly Marine, went off to test her new powers.
