Samuel lived in the human world. Although there were stories about extraordinary creatures, most people did not believe in them and a few that did felt that such creatures were forever out of reach. Because of this, the human world kept to themselves. Even the stories were starting to fade.

One day, Samuel decided to go exploring. He left the town where he lived, went through the forest, and arrived at a river on the other side. The river was enchanted but the humans had long forgotten such things.

Samuel decided to go for a swim. He waded in and then swam to the center of the river where the water was over his head. As soon as he did, he got caught in some sort of current. He did his best to pull himself free, but it was no use. The current pulled him to the bottom to what he thought was his doom.

Instead of his doom, something else happened. He saw lights dancing all around him. His body grew smaller and became more feminine. Other changes were also happening. His clothing changed into a bright blue dress with matching shoes, his hair grew below his waist, and wings sprouted out of his back.

Samuel looked at his, or her, hands in disbelief. She had changed gender but that was the least of her concerns. What she had become was no longer even human. The lights disappeared leaving only one bright light coming from the surface. Samuel swam up to it and entered a completely different world, the world of the fairies.

Samuel looked at her reflection. She had become a fairy. She had asian features, dark hair, and brown eyes. These features had been with her for a long time, yet they seemed brand new.

Instinctively, she knew her talent had something to do with water. She was a water fairy which would explain why she had gone to the river. A blond fairy in a green dress approached her.

"Silvermist!" she shouted. "Fairy Mary has called us together for a meeting. A portal to the human world has opened up."

Silvermist realized that was her name and the other fairy was named Tinkerbell. She hurried to attend the meeting. Fairy Mary had been around for quite some time. If anyone knew how to properly interact with humans, it would be her.
