This is one of my most announced captions. Nothing for months and then suddenly it appears. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. I had a poll letting people decide whether the parents would remember or forget. It was close. The results are below.

One day after her first meeting with the witch doctor and two days after trying on the magic dress that changed her gender and made her ten years younger, Alexandra went with her parents to see the witch doctor one more time. After telling her parents they needed to wait outside, the witch doctor used a spell he prepared the previous night to change Alexandra back into Alexander. His initial reaction was one of shock. This was more or less what the witch doctor expected.

"What is happening?" demanded Alexander once the initial shock wore off.

"I have returned you to your original form, at least temporarily," explained the witch doctor. "I am afraid the spell on the dress is too powerful, even for me. You will become Alexandra again in about an hour. However, I can make sure you do not lose your memory again. Please understand that this option is risky. If you act too much out of the ordinary you could attract unwanted attention and endanger us all."

"I want to keep my memories," Alexander said without the slightest hesitation. "I will be careful what I do in the future. I have learned my lesson about letting my curiosity get the best of me."

"I do not doubt it," the witch doctor remarked. "That brings me to my next question. Do you want your parents to remember you were once Alexander? Since it was your mother's dress that caused the transformation, by magical law they are partly to blame for what happened. This gives you the option of making them forget so life will be easier for you."

Alexander paused to think about this. Each option had its advantages and disadvantages. Once giving this some thought, he made his decision

"Let them keep their memories too," insisted Alexander. "If I show them mercy maybe they will return the favor."

"Good idea, but keep in mind if you only do good deeds expecting something in return you are going to be disappointed," advised the witch doctor.

Alexander just nodded. He was at a loss for words. Things definitely did not go as he had planned. Despite everything he had to admit things could have gone much worse.

The witch doctor cast a spell on Alexander allowing him to keep his memories, then he brought his parents back into the room. Together the four of them planned what to do next. Alexandra would be home schooled to reduce the risk of being discovered. She would be sent to a magical school once she became old enough.

When they did go out in public, there were certain things Alexandra simply could not do, like showing knowledge beyond that of an intelligent five year old. These restrictions would gradually fade as the years passed.

As they talked, Alexander felt his body change. He was once again becoming Alexandra. This time it would be permanent. Nothing other than a well prepared spell could change her and even that would only be for a limited time. Alexandra felt the changes stop. She looked down at her body and realized she had her new body and her old memories.

It would take time for Alexandra to learn how to act like a five year old girl but it was better than losing her memories. Since her parents also remembered they could help her out. She had plenty of time to learn.

Another thing that would help her out was her desire to be a girl. It had been part of the spell for unknown reasons and when Alexandra returned so did that desire. By this point, even if someone did have a well prepared spell to temporarily change her back she would probably refuse it. She had a new life to lead.
