Alexander was an old man. He had been born into a noble family which meant he had an easy life. Theoretically he could have lived a comfortable life without ever having to work, but in actuality he squandered most of his wealth during his youth. Most of the things he spent his money on were either things that did not last or things considered worthless by other people.

By the time Alexander reached middle age, he discovered he would have to work if he wanted to keep from going broke. Even then he continued to spend more money than he made from his job. His job only delayed the time it took for him to go into debt. As an old man, he knew he had only a few days left to pay his debts before his creditors took his home and sold it.

In desperation, Alexander searched through the various trinkets he acquired during his youth. Most of them were just junk but one of the items he collected was magical. He just had not realized it before. It was a golden tiara.

When Alexander placed the crown on his head, it transformed him. He became much younger looking like he did in his twenties and then his teens. His hair turned light blond and grew down to his shoulders. His clothing turned purple with matching purple gloves and purple shoes. Jewelry appeared all over his body.

Alexander was surprised when the jewelry appeared. More than the previous changes it seemed like it did not belong. However soon Alexandra realized that she would become the new princess. It was her destiny. Her former masculine features faded away as her feminine features became elegant and dignified. She was fully female.

Her purple clothing puffed out and became a large purple gown. Matching gloves appeared on her hands. Her purple shoes became high heels while her socks extended upwards and became white tights. Bright bows and other fancy items appeared all over her gown. Alexandra looked at herself and was pleased.

She sold her home and all remaining items to her creditors knowing she would never need them again. Alexandra left her home and headed to the palace where the king and queen lived. The people were glad to give her a ride. Her mere presence was payment enough for them.

The king and queen did not recognize her but that was not a problem. She instinctively knew hypnosis. With just a few words that were not even hypnotic words, she convinced them she was their daughter and belonged in the castle with them. Anyone else who had any doubts were convinced just as easily.

With the rare and precious gift of a second chance, one might think Alexandra would have just taken it easy but this was not the case. Alexandra once again began squandering her wealth. She got her servants to do things like carry her throne into the farmlands while she sat in it. They were paid for their work but this was not her concern. She had plenty of money.

Being royalty, the only way Alexandra would go broke was if the entire kingdom went broke. Normally that would be beyond even her ability but she had used a magic item. There was no telling what would happen next or how much it would cost.
