I have not yet seen the movie Belle. Even so, when I saw the trailer for it I saw how easily it could be part of my Virtual Reality series.

Michael spent most of his free time in the world of Virtual Life. Using his character, Michelle, he was able to interact with the general public the way a girl would. Unlike most gender benders, he could sing without using any vocal effects. Vocal effects had certainly improved over the decades but so had the ability to detect them. A naturally disguised voice was ultimately the safest.

Virtual Life was having a talent contest and Michael immediately entered Michelle into it. He knew he would have a huge disadvantage but he wanted to win it and win it without using vocal effects which he considered cheating even if it was legal.

Michael picked the songs he was going to sing as Michelle and practiced them daily. After the first round, he was one of the people selected to move on. For the second round, the judges had already selected the songs the constants would sing. Michael did his best but he just did not have the endurance for it. During the grand finale of the final song, when he needed to be the loudest, his voice faded. This caused him to fall just short of advancing. He almost cried.

However, his time competing was not over. He came close enough to earn a wildcard bid. With bold determination, he belted out the high notes and won the wildcard spot in the final round. For the final round, as well as singing he would have to face his fears as determined by an AI. For Michael his fear was obvious, but as Michelle his fear was not so clear. He had no idea what his fear would translate into.

His skill at hiding would not save him in the final round. He thought about quitting but if he did that everything he worked for would be ruined. With a sigh he prepared himself as best he could for what was to come.
