Mina scrambled up the rock face, the loose dry stones giving under her paws as she climbed. It felt good to be out of the city, out and away from civilization, though no matter how she turned that one, she could never quite wrap her head around how people considered that life civilized.

Instead she found her peace out in the rocks, the sandy desert was a pleasant change from the concrete and metal. Instead of buildings she was surrounded by cactus that had begun to bud but not quite bloom yet. She still marveled at the beauty behind the spiky plants, they were a pleasant chance from the stark cold nature of the island she had spent so much time on.

Mounting the bolder before her she dug her fingers into its cracked surface and finding a crevice that fit, she began to pull herself up. Ascending she made each move carefully, shifting her weight and planting her legs to not lose her balance.

The climb didn't take to long, thought it left her arms burning by the time she pulled herself up over the hump. Drawing in a deep breath she moved to the center of the rounded bolder and let herself settle crossing her legs. It was quite up here, quite and in a way peaceful. She sat, waiting, watching as the sun crept over the horizon spilling over her the sandy terrain before her and slowly reaching her rock and spilling over her face. The warmth still brought a smile to her face, it was something she hadn't felt in years, and in the moment it was pure bliss.

Looking around she wondered where her hiking partner was?
