Nera pinched her brow as she reached for her keys.
‘Come on, come on.’ She muttered as she fumbled through her purse. ‘Ah, there you are.’

The door swung open revealing a small apartment, it seemed sparse by her standards, she had thought that after moving to the city Amenii would have picked up a few more possessions. A carrot pillow thrown on the love seat, a few odds and ends decorating the shelves.

But otherwise, somehow it saddened her.

It was linked to her past, she knew that much. Amenii never had much when she was at the university, but she had assumed that she had chosen to travel lightly. That and her roommate was a living disaster zone, crossbreed with a kleptomaniac. Now, with the new spacious room, how little she really had was made sadly apparent.

‘Amenii?’

Was she even home? Padding across the oaken floor she made a note to get Amenii a rug for her next birthday.

‘Hello?’

Her sent was here, she was sure. She carefully padded across the room, there was only one other room in the hose. ‘Ameeeeeeniiiiiii….’ Nera drew out the word, as she draped herself over the door frame, and froze.

Smiling back at her, Amenii’s eyes flashed green.

‘Hello.’
