Yup, as per National Geographic, they are used to defend food or territories from other females. They are also used to forage for food in the deep snow.

Ah, a learned man, a rare verity for sure.

Mostly they just get her in trouble. Getting dressed is a chore, hence she wears mostly dresses that zip up the back or side. Anything that she can step into rather than try and pull over her head.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JKnight97 In reply to Code-Shark [2017-04-22 04:07:19 +0000 UTC]

There is the option of the static cling dress. No buttons, no zippers, no mess, no fuss. Merely wear it like a jump suit and the cloth will cling to the contours of the body. It will not come off except by the press of a button that interrupts the mild electrical flow throughout the fabric. Press once, it clings, press twice, it comes off. We're still working on where to put the damn button safely as some mammals tend to have wardrobe malfunctions in the middle of the street.

Code-Shark In reply to JKnight97 [2017-04-22 23:25:11 +0000 UTC]

That though produces a polite chuckle from the shark across the table, but the eyes reveal more, bright and dancing that does little to hide his amusement. 'I shall have to order five of these such gowns, yes, are they available for purchase?'Β  Β

JKnight97 In reply to Code-Shark [2017-04-22 23:46:29 +0000 UTC]

"I believe I have found the solution! It came to me on my run! Biometrics! We can key the button so that only the hoofprint, pawprint, or even noseprint of the mammal will turn the static charge on or off! It's brilliant! Each mammal has a unique print and this will prevent the accidental wardrobe malfunction since the owner has to press on the button for at least 5 seconds...we should get this idea down to the lab immediately!" rushing about with a notepad and paper while dialing up the Research Lab. "Harold! Biometrics! It's been staring at us in the face the whole time. This is the solution! How soon can we get a prototype? Not soon enough! Get the boys on it over the weekend. I have an initial order of five on standby. No, not five million units. Just five! It's a start Harold. Stop whining like a sick puppy you anthrowolf and get it done!" I yell at the phone and shut it off. "I don't know why I never thought of it but it's as clear as day once the concept is detailed out."

"Oh, how soon? My boys should have something ready by the middle of next week. In the meantime, imagine all your female employees wearing this slinky little number. Damn it, I just thought of something else." reaching into my phone, I dial the lab again. "Harold, who's in charge of the coding for the fiber integration weaving portion? Dimitri? Tell him, to add a copycat mode to the fabric coding. Why? It's simple, my dear wolfie. Who wants everyone wearing just a plain grey tunic? Not me! We don't want everyone looking like that sick perverted mammal from 'Fifty Shades of Prey'! Add a small camera lens in the button as well. Tell him to have two versions. A dumbed-down version for the general public and the one with a higher intellect for the military. We'll make a killing selling them as camouflage suits! Harold, I don't care if you don't want to have the military version. It's not your company! Now, get in gear before I come down there and kick your tail into tomorrow!" I say fuming as I mash the end button.

"Ah, yes," turning to the shark, "you were saying?"

"Hmmm...tell you what. I don't have an artist's conceptual drawing for the press. What say we do a quid pro quo here? They're yours free of charge if you can come up with sketches based on the specs I've just laid out. One for the general public, the other for presenting to the military. Your reputation as an artist precedes you. Just mention my name." I say.

Shrugging my shoulders, I spread my paws, saying, "What harm will it do? You will have a product that most mammals would kill to have plus you'd share in the profits especially if I get the military contract. Now, I know you have several models in your lineup. The bunny comes highly recommended along with the Gazelle who is in the midst of marital negotiations with a warring tribe is another. This female Caribou could be another. We would need several strong and husky males for the military concept. For now, only one is really needed. A young, vibrant, petite female with a lithe, alluring figure guaranteed to make heads turn once she is wrapped in this skintight garment." I submit.

'It's the design that concerns me.' Fingers drum. 'One does become a little concerned when that a wardrobe malfunction may result in one running naked though a battlefield.'

A ghost smile touches those shark like jaws.

'Civilian models I can understand, but a redundant backup is needed for any military application. Now, for that model, I suspect a field test is in order. Sirse can aid you in that matter. That and her size will make the first design easier to create.'

'How are you to getting along?' Shark eyes fix on you, 'You have been spending a lot of time with her.'

JKnight97 In reply to Code-Shark [2017-04-25 16:05:52 +0000 UTC]

I smile, acknowledging the jibe. "We are slowly warming up to each other. She is quite the feisty one, she is." I chuckle. "I admit it is rather selfish of me wanting to have a small picture of her to carry around but then I am but a mammal made of fur and bones."

"For the military model, I was considering the garment more as an outer covering over their main battle armour. And given the higher AI requirements, they would need to be carrying a battery pack as well so that the garment will automatically copy the surrounding area in order to remain unseen once they are in stealth mode. The military is currently testing the technology on their warplanes but I can visualize it for the infantry as well as their land and water based vehicles as well. Their SEAL team would find it quite useful in the aquatic version as we can make it waterproof and provide protection from the frigid temperatures."

Making a note on my iPaw, I turn to the shark saying, "A redundant backup is a good idea! I've shot an email off to the design team to add a voice command so that it will require both the hoof, paw or nose print plus the user's voice to remove or turn off the garment's functionality."

Nodding approval, I reach into a desk drawer and extract a small gold pendent. With an roll of the fingers I run the pendent from one side to the other, as debating.

'I give you this is in good faith, I trust you will not use it for anything...inappropriate.'Β

A flick of the wrist sends the pendent spiraling through the air to you.

'Now, for the military model, I think this is a wonderful idea. The use of AI technology, is a dangerous territory to tread in. VIs are much safer for use in a military model. That coupled with the use of an adaptive camouflage would make for an incredible advantage on nearly any battlefield. The application of such would be valuable beyond measure.'

'It may interest you, that during the second world war, there was a self sealing fabric employed by the air force. If memory serves it was used on the gun turrets on their aircraft. Something you may want to look into should time provide.'

JKnight97 In reply to Code-Shark [2017-04-26 13:58:14 +0000 UTC]

As I catch the pendant and hang it around my neck, I glance at the shark with a raised eyebrow as if to say: What power does this particular talisman possess?

"Yes, I've seen that technology but it has been overtaken by a newer one. Self-healing or self-repairing through the use of nanobots. Expensive in the beginning but it will pay for itself since there will not be a need for a separate maintenance crew. And if one needs to update, once merely programs the nanobots with the specs and viola! the deed is done."

Tapping my iPaw with my finger, I Β ponder the suggestion, having seen a movie where AIs run amok due to virus being maliciously uploaded by a well-meaning super-AI. "Yes, I see what you mean. Let me get the team to rehash the military option with a VI as it will be a safer option for all," I say as I tap out the email instructions. "But if we have any prototypes already available, would you want one as I plan to put any through our disintegration chamber for the good of mammalkind?"

A smile, wide and toothy rolls over that sharkish face. 'You never had the pleasure of playing Rouge as A child did you?'Β  Dismissing, that with a wave, 'Ah, the talisman, it contains the power to hold the picture inside its frame. That, and it could be used as a focal point, should one have the talent. I would not advise doing such though, Sirse is not one to approve of such arts.'

At the mention of nanobots I visibly cringe. 'Nanites...yes, a very dangerous technology. The idea of using any kind of robotics, and planting it into the human body is asking for trouble, in this ones humble opinion.'

The smile returns, 'People are so, dependent on technology. When the fall comes, it will be very, very, amusing to watch how the world will rebuild itself.'

'Of course, I would be pleased to have one. An AI, can be very useful, dangerous, but useful. One cautionary word though, from someone who has seen even what a VI may become.'

Holding up a small silver disk, an image resolves, of a man standing before a wall terminal. 'Your not a VI, your an AI!' Shock and horror in his voice.

A very cold voice with absolute certainty of its survival responds. 'Correct.'

JKnight97 In reply to Code-Shark [2017-04-26 14:39:32 +0000 UTC]

"Please, do you take me for a fool? I would never use nanite technology to be placed inside a mammal's body. The bots would be incorporated into the fiber so that if any damage is incurred they spring into action. Imagine if you've been hit by a blast that rips the camouflage and exposes you to the enemy and to the harsh conditions around you. The bots would take anywhere from 5-20 seconds to complete the repair and you'd be back in stealth mode without anyone being the wiser. As for the prototype, I shall have it delivered along with the gag dress on the next shipment."

I furrow my brow. "I am lost with that video. I have never come upon it in all my lifetimes. Can you clear up my confusion?"

Code-Shark In reply to JKnight97 [2017-04-26 15:21:43 +0000 UTC]

'No, no I take you for a cautionary Bear, I also take you for a very ambitious individual.' Nodding, 'Yes, I can see the advantages of being able to have a suit to self heal in the field. Strangely, this technology reminds me of another, they called her the Iron Eagle. Though, the nickname Dove, stuck. I suspect you would have liked to meet her.'

Pocketing the disk, I give a shrug with massive shoulders.

'Alas, not even I can produce this such files. If I could it would tax me greatly, and require a great deal of time on both our parts.' With a wave of a hand to dismiss the question. 'It is of little consequence, it is the story that is important.'Β
