she knew what was happening she was falling. Her hand shot out to grab the side of the table, slipped, and drew the cloth down with her. The tablecloth slowed her decent, as it and she pooled onto the floor in a heap.
‘Ooooooooh…’

Her belly bulged, and of late it had become harder and harder to carry out what had once been simple tasks. Even walking up the stairs had become a challenge, the action often left her winded before she could make it to the top flight.

‘Amenii?’ Nera’s voice came from the kitchen as she stuck her head out. ‘Amenii!’

In a heartbeat she was there, at her side before Amenii could protest. ‘It’s nothing, I, I just slipped.’

Nera leered at her, the hyena’s massive hand found her belly. Funny, Amenii mused, how small a thing she felt when Nera was there. Though she had brown round of late, Nera used to jest with her on how skinny she was, as she could wrap her hands around her waist and still have finger room to spare.

Of late that had been happening a lot, Nera seemed to be drawn to her belly almost as much as she was. In their bed, she would often wake to find Nera had slid her down to cradle her where her own belly would be, arms wrapped protectively around her swollen form.

Other times, when she was feeling playful she would blow raspberries into her fur, making Amenii squeal with laughter as she tried to kick Nera’s huge form off her.

Lately though, she had been feeling weak, and even such simple games wore her out quickly. The sudden lapses in her strength was new too, one moment she would be walking along, and the next she was on her knees and breathless.

‘I’m okay.’ She said again assumingly as Nera knelt beside her.

‘Right.’ Snorting Nera slipped an arm under her shoulders and drew her up. ‘Of course you are.’

It always suppressed Amenii how gentle Nera could be, for someone her size she moved with a deft grace as drew her up. Her legs wobbled in protest, as she tried to put her weight on them, Nera must have seen it too, or more likely felt it, as her grip tightened and before she knew it, Nera was lifting her up, to cradle her in her arms.

‘Wowh! Hey!’ Amenii protested, as Nera moved to the counter near the door. ‘Put me down. What do you think your doing?’

Not looking down, Nera fished into a basket and retrieved her phone, and was punching in a number before she carried Amenii out the door.

‘Yes, I need a pick up at 2431 Central, off of Burgs Street.’ Nera spoke, craning her head out of Amenii’s grasping reach. ‘Yes, one Hyena, and A bunny. And, please, A conservative driver. Good. We’ll be down stairs.’

Snapping the phone shut, Amenii did not need to ask to know where Nera was taking her.

‘At least grab my coat.’ Was all the protesting she managed, knowing any argument to the contrary would either be refuted or ignored. That was something she had grown accustom to as well. It was hard to argue with someone three times your size, especially when Nera was in one of her protective moods.

Still, she added with a bit of a huff. ‘It’s nothing I tell you.’

‘Yeah,’ Nera cracked a half smile, though her brows betrayed her true feelings on the matter. ‘We’ll just let the doctors be the judge of that, Ms. I-Hate-Hospitals’

The rest was silence.

C.S. Notes: Rekindling what was lost, that's what I've been trying to do. If a daring soul should take the time to look, they may see that my shading, and forms with pen and paper have devolved, the reason behind that being I had no time to practice, and people like Color/Digital a lot better than Pen/B&W. But, I shall always like pen the best, simple pen on paper with crosshatching for shading.

So, I sat down and I worked on something I wanted to. I grabbed an old sketch that was sitting on my desk and I finished inking it, shaded it, and wrote up a back story.
