Ah, perhaps her family has been forced to choose a side, between what one believes is morally just and what the will of the Emperor is to be. It would be a sad moment, as divides occur where friendship once stood. I think that is what she may be doing, having to fight an old friend, someone she trusted, but has now been deemed a traitor.
Thank you, that is what it began as, then sat for two days as I could not bring myself to touch it further.
I confess, I fudged on that one, the armor hides their shape to well, coupled with the bulky clothing, I was forced to do what I could. Pen is a very unforgiving medium.

If I had to give this piece tone, I would say that she and her honor guard chose to stay behind on a small noel, in order to buy their army time to escape. The choice came with it the unspoken death sentence, as there is no escape, and to surrender is considered a great dishonor.

Perhaps a touch of sadness too. The more I look at this, I suspect it is from the Eyes of a lover.
Rather than see Amenii in full armor and face mask, her opponent sees her as how they remember her when they first met. Amenii standing under a Cherry tree in bloom, the blossoms wafting through her ears, giving her a crown of pink to compliment her armors deep blue and gold.
Perhaps it is not Amenii who is speaking.
Perhaps, it is her lover, who must now hunt her down by order of the Emperor. Even through the rain, and cries of battle, as his forces cuts her men down around her, she appears so calm. Even smiling as though seeing him again, as a friend who has just come home after a long trip.
