‘Amenii dear, what’s got you so worked up this morning?’ Nera asked as she leaned against the kitchen counter, the coolness of the stone slab almost made her rise again. Changing of the seasons, she thought to herself as she settled into place, letting her body heat up the slab that served as their counter top.

Having fastened a bed robe around her middle before abandoning the comfort of their bed and coming down stairs, Nera had been awoken by a sudden commotion from the kitchen below her. This she could ignore, or even account the commotion to an accident, Amenii knew she liked to sleep in on her days off from the hospital. This time though, her smaller lover had insisted and kept calling her name to get her down stairs. Reluctantly she had done so, if for no other reason than to get coffee.

It was not until her padded feet had stepped onto the wood floor and sent a shiver up her spine that she remembered Amenii had insisted she switch over to tea. No creamer, no sugar, something about watching her weight and health benefits. Tempting as it was to make fun of the bunny’s life choices giving her nightly activities, she had instead grudgingly agreed to let coffee go. For now.

Lifting her mug to her lips and taking a long swig, she tried the flavor out in her mouth, red, not black, herbal tea of some kind, not sweet, but not bitter. And definitely not coffee. Still it was her off day and she didn’t need it, not yet anyways.

‘Did you see?’ Amenii declared, the smaller bunny was standing on a chair to boost her up to be at a sitting height with the table, something that still make Nera smile every time she witnessed the special. There was something cute about watching her lover make do in a world meant for someone three times her size, not that it had slowed Amenii down any, or caused her to complain. ‘Did you see?’

Eyes flickering over to what Amenii kept insistently pointing too, Nera’s gaze flicked over the headlines of the paper, now flattened out to cover half the table. Across a double page print were the words, State Fair Opening Today!

Smiling the pieces clicked into place.

‘I see, let me guess you want to go?’ She asked in a mock unconvincing tone, that earned her a reproachful look that made Nera smile. ‘Let me finish this first, then we can start making plans. Do you think Jack would be interested in joining us? He’s always on the hunt to get some new photos.’
