Description ‘Sirse.’

Eyes closed the little fox stirred.

‘Sirse.’

Opening her eyes, Sirse blinked and gave her head a little shake.

‘Your were asleep.’ The figure across from her said patiently, a small smile playing across the figures face. ‘again.’

As the car continued to bump down the road, and finally came to a grinding stop outside a worn apartment complex.

‘Perhaps you would like to continue this conversation later?’

With a wave of her paw, Sirse dismissed the question and collecting the bag with her belongings followed the figure up the stone steps in silence. Safe behind the oak doors, the figure motioned to the little fox to set the bag down and have a seat by the fireplace, that still sporting embers from its last use, was easily coached back into full flame.

‘That’s better.’ The figure stood back from his handy work and took a seat in one of the two cushy arm chairs before the fire. ‘Now-‘ he began, but stopped again, as Sirse was fast asleep again, head lolling to one side as her tiny frame slumped to the side to come to rest one the arm of the chair she was in.

Shaking his head the figure pulled a blanket out, and draping it over her left the room.

‘Foxes.’

Coming back home after picking up Arie at school, Gus noticed Sirse asleep on the couch. He motioned to the bunniger by his side and pointed out the little vixen curled up in the chair, covered by a blanket. He signed to her as he had been helping her learn the art of sign language which he was quite amazed that she had been able to learn in a very short time.

"Your Aunt Sirse is very tired. I'll take her up to the room and then I'll come back down to prepare dinner."

Arie nodded and signed back in response: "Just make sure that's all you're going to do as she looks like she needs her rest!" she admonished her father, whom she knew was wont to take liberties with Sirse especially when she was quite vulnerable. Not that the vixen would mind but she needed to remind her foster father to behave. "Francine will be watching and will report back to me if you misbehave." she signed with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Ever since their return from the Death Star, she had learned to love the little vixen. Not as a mother. But as a friend and she had begun to care deeply for her as well.

Gus only huffed and smiled in response. "I understand and I'll behave. She really looks tuckered out from her last mission. It looks like the Baron brought her back here. I'll make sure she's more comfortable upstairs then I'll be back." he signed to her.

Slowly, Gus bent down to pick her up not wanting to awaken his mate. If she did, she might automatically lash out in reflex, as she might still be in her fight mode if CS hadn't had the chance to debrief her properly. He placed his paw next to her nose so that she would inhale his scent. He saw her smile slightly and a small paw reached out to grasp his larger one. He then slowly straightened up, cradling her in his arms, keeping her close to his chest, letting his scent wash over her as he made his way up to the bed they shared.

In the bedroom, he gently deposited her on top of the bed and made to unbutton her blouse but stopped when she began to snarl in her sleep. Sighing, he had no choice but to leave her in her current clothing. He placed a pillow underneath her head and draped the satin bed cover over her as he slowly disengaged his paw from hers. As he stepped out of the room, he spoke to the master computer.

"Francine, some white noise in the bedroom, please. The sounds of waves crashing onto the beach, perhaps. Pianissimo." With that, he made his way back to the kitchen to prepare dinner for the two loves of his life.

Sirse opened her eyes slowly, casting her gaze around the room, it took her a minute to orient herself before the familiar surroundings came back to her. Apparently her employer had seen fit to deposit her at Gus’s house before taking his leave. Eyes closing once again, Sirse settled back into the bed, the soft blankets pulled over her, all she wanted to do was sleep for an age. Then the scent came to her, tickling her nose, Gus’s cooking no doubt, the debate over if she should ignore it or get out of bed was a struggle, but in the end Sirse roused herself, slipping from the king sized bed to the cool floor below. A quick look in the mirror told her that she looked a mess, and taking a few minutes to try and get the wrinkles out of her clothing she headed to the bathroom.

Below Arie was busy clicking away on her smart phone, a feat not easily done with her massive paws that all but engulfed the tiny device. Still, by extending her claws she was able to nimbly work her way through the keys, and regularly shooting glances at the kitchen where her father was preparing a late dinner. Smiling she reread the message after making sure her father was otherwise occupied, knowing how he reacted to the subject of boys, she had decided he did not need to know with who she was conversing.

‘Do you really think so?’

‘Of course, you would be great.’ The response popped up almost immediately.

‘I don’t know, I’ve never been very good at-‘ She hesitated, trying to find the right words. ‘Acting.’

‘Trust me, you will do fine. Just swing by their office and they will get you set up.’

Eyes snapping up again, Arie saw her giving her a questioning glance out of the corner of his eye, the effect somewhat ruined by the fact that he had chopped the same vegetable several times now and was quickly reducing it to shreds. Giving him her best disarmingly toothy smile she grinned feinting complete innocents, the result was almost as comical, or would have been if not for that odd twitch her father had seemed to develop when facing duress. Doing her best to ignore the small spasm, she quickly returned to her phone.

‘Look I had better go, I will see you on Thursday after class?’

‘See you then Stripes.’

Arie felt herself flush, she loved it when he called her that, it was their own little secret, something they shared and it was special to her, not even her father knew. Or Sirse, who, as she looked up, noticed was coming down the stairs.

It only took a moment for Arie to notice her, Gus though, seemed distracted or was forcefully keeping his gaze locked on the meal he was preparing. His guard was down, not relaxed, but down. Something she was going to correct. Coiling herself at the base of the stairs, she took aim and sprang, a blur of red fur streaking silently towards its unsuspecting victim.

Arie cracked a smile, watching over the lip of her phone.

Without looking up, Gus' left arm snagged Sirse out of the air as she came flying towards him and and pinned her against the kitchen wall with his paw. Ever since the Death Star incident, their connection had been growing stronger and he had begun to know when she was around even without the use of his senses. He dropped the massive butcher's knife he was holding in his right, wiped his paw on the apron and then glared fiercely at his mate, grumbling: "How many times have I told you, amor? Never sneak up on me when I have a knife in my hand. You, of all mammals should know how 'accidents' tend to happen around me. And, besides," leering as he drew closer to her so that his lips just brushed hers, "you should be resting. You are still not up to your full strength. I would not have been able to easily catch you if you were." He then gently wrapped her in his massive arms to collect his usual reward from her. Their kiss was long and torrid, leaving both flushed afterwards.

"Now," he said, clapping his paws, dinner will be slightly delayed as my mind was distracted and I believe we can all let off a little steam. Arie, why don't you go with your Aunt Sirse to the simulation room to continue your training? I promised you we would be doing things together as a family and in order to do that, we need to get your combat skills ready in case we are called on a mission. Plus, I still don't trust Mab to simply stand by. Like you said, mon petit cheri, fey have long memories. I will join you as soon as I've prepared our food."

Sirse looked stunned and signed a quick message, all the while glaring at her mate. "When did you decide this? And why didn't you consult me on this? The battlefield is no place for a child!"

"But I'm not a child anymore, Auntie!" cried Arie. "Look at me. Why, my chest is even bigger than yours!" she smugly announced.

"Arie!" Gus snapped. "It is not polite to point out such things even though it may be true. Apologize to your aunt."

Shame-faced, the young bunniger blurted out, "Sorry, Auntie, I didn't mean it that way."

Smiling, the little vixen came up to Arie to give her a hug and ruffled the fur on top of the hybrid's head. "Think nothing of it, my dear," she signed, "I'm perfectly happy with what I have and I haven't heard your father complain...yet." as she saucily winked at her lover.

"Sirse!" Gus scolded, slightly scandalized at his mate's behavior as he attempted to steer the conversation back. "You know that I adore you just as you are. And your body is perfect just the way it is. I have never asked you to change and I never will. Now, amor," as he closed the gap between the three of them in order to crouch down and grasp Sirse and Arie's paws in his. "I normally would agree with you but we are not in normal times. I apologize for not consulting with you first but after the Death Star mission, I realized that I couldn't be around to protect my loved ones all the time. She needs to know how to protect herself if we are not there. And Arie is right, she no longer is a child. She needs our help to prepare her for the realities of the world, not coddled. And that includes boys, young lady."

‘Boys?’ Aire protested. ‘I don’t need any advice with boys!’ Not adding that she felt she had enough experience already, and knew from listening to other mammals at school how and what was expected of boys. The larger and more robust the better, seemed to be the standing ideal.

Sirse, unamused give Gus a withering look as to warn him that his turn would come. And soon. Leaving it at that she guided Arie back to the garage where their training gym had been set up. We really need a bigger complex, Sirse thought to herself as she surveyed the area she had to work with, she would have to bring that to Gus’s attention as well. Maybe he would be willing to create an expansion or set up a separate building just for training purposes. Maybe. Still. That would have to wait.

Motioning Arie over to the mats she began to work with her on take downs and ground work. The style she had been trained in was to take on multiple opponents at once, drop one and make sure they did not get up again quickly. Something Arie was getting very efficient at, though Sirse noted that she had a tendency to rely on her strength rather than leverage at times. Something she could not do. Pushing the bunny tiger hard, Sirse let herself go, drifting as her body moved. Her thoughts on what it would be like, to be considered a mother figure rather than an aunt. For some reason the idea of having Arie call her aunty made her feel a bit uneased, maybe it was the classic step mother roll that had been villainized so much – the blow took her on the side of the face, shattering the thought as she spiraled to the mat. Only by rolling with the blow did Sirse prevent the wind from being knocked out of her.

Serves me right for not paying attention she mused. Maybe Gus was right and she was not at her full potential yet.

‘I’m sorry!’ Arie protested, her arms going up to her mouth in surprise, clearly, she had not intended to land the strike. ‘It was an accident, really.’

Rubbing her jaw, Sirse nodded and signed that there was nothing to apologies for. ‘I was distracted. That’s all. I have a lot on my mind of late. And –‘

A knock on the garage door, proceeded Gus sticking his head in announcing that dinner was served.

‘It can wait.’ Sirse signed as they made their exit together.

Gus noticed it as soon as he opened the garage door. Sirse was sitting on the mat rubbing her jaw as Arie stood in shock across from her. "That's odd. Sirse was knocked down by Arie?" he thought. "She's still out of it. I shouldn't have allowed her to push herself right after the Death Star affair."

"Dinner is served." he announced as her stepped into the garage. "Arie, please go wash your paws while I speak to your Auntie. We'll be right up."

"Okay, dad. No hanky-panky okay. I'm not sure Auntie's in shape for anything." her concern showing on her face as she went ahead.

"I'm fine!" Sirse impatiently signed to Gus, "Why does everyone treat me like an invalid?"

"That's because you died on the medical table, mon petit cheri, but you miraculously came back to life," Gus said as he knelt down so that they were eye-level. "This was over a month ago. And you still haven't slowed down since then."

"I don't need to slow down!" she groused. "I'm perfectly capable of handling myself."

"Just like how you were unable to sneak up on me? And Arie was able to knock you down? Plus I found you fast asleep on the couch at four in the afternoon? No, amor, you are not capable. Not yet anyway."

Sirse threw a look of frustration at Gus. "But the Baron needs me! We still have so much to prepare. There's no telling when dis-"

Gus interrupted her signing by catching her paws in his large ones and she snarled at him, baring her fangs in anger. Shaking his head, he calmly spoke to her. "Amor, two months ago, I would not have been able to do this. You're pushing yourself to your limits again and your body hasn't healed yet. So," as he interrupted her snarl by pecking her on the mouth as she in turn attempted to bite his lips off, "We--you, Arie and myself--are taking the day off tomorrow to go to the beach. I'll let you pick the site even. And I've cleared it with CS."

Stunned, the little vixen could not reply. "The Baron agreed?" she thought.

"Yes, he did," said Gus, answering the stunned look on her face. "He thought it best we have a family day to ourselves without having to worry about mission stuff. He told me to tell you to have fun. That was a direct order from him."

Sirse sighed. She knew her pride was what kept her from resting. Yet, if her employer found out that she was not up to his standards, he might-

She shook her head. She refused to entertain that thought. She looked up to catch her mate's eyes and the worry in them. She internally sighed and nuzzled her head under his jaw. "I'm sorry," she apologized as she slipped her paws from his grasp. "Sometimes I can be too mule-headed."

Gus laughed. "That's being speciesist, Sirse. Besides, I lost you once to Death. I don't want to lose you because you refused to take a very much needed breather." gently drawing her closer to him as he kissed her on the forehead.

She smiled as she dragged his muzzle to hers so she could trace the outline of his lips with her tongue. She then bit the bottom of his lip, sucking it into her mouth. "We never finished what we started in the kitchen." she slyly suggested, waggling her eyebrows at him.

Gus pressed his lips onto hers. "I promised Arie no hanky-panky while we're here in the garage," as they broke for air. "But I never said anything about the bedroom," smirking back at her. "Let's have dinner and then you go on ahead to take a quick shower. I'll be up as soon as I've cleaned up the kitchen."

Sirse nodded in agreement. "Don't forget to prepare some extra food. There's a place I want to show Arie where she can see all the stars in the night sky."

-----

An hour later, Gus entered their shared bedroom only to find Sirse had showered and changed but she was out like a light. Chuckling to himself, Gus quickly showered and got ready for bed, too. He slipped under the covers and curled himself around her. "Goodnight, mi dulce amor," he whispered into her ear, "sweet dreams!"

I think that here would be a good stopping point, as it transitions nicely into the Beach Vixen portion of the story where Gus, Sirse, and Aire have arrived at the beach. Thoughts?

Yes, it is a good stopping point. Then from there we go into Some Alone Time unless you have another story in between? I introduced the idea of Arie meeting her future partner here. Possibly aa youth on his space surfboard (ala The Silver Surfer so we can use a Platinum Fox).

By the way, I finally watched Dr. Strange and I'd like to work out with you how Sirse uses her powers. As per the movie, some spells can be cast without the use of words, others require a chanting in order to direct the magic.

Lol, I wish I had cats like that, I miss my old cat 'Squeaker' huge animal, very affectionate, he existed to he be held, carried, or sat in your lap. I swear he must have been carried everywhere as a kitten.

As for Sirse, she probably wouldn't mind, she probably would not notice the transfer either as she is pretty zonked right now. Poor dear. ^^

Well, one mission after another, then family issues. Accumulating in the operation to liberate IG-88s program from the data core of the first death star. All the while on the time limit of getting out before it all blows up... oh, and doing so without without getting caught, or changing the time line.

And then rushing home to a family gathering, reporting to her boss, and...

So she is just a little winded.

Busy girl.
That is tiring.
I too have worked some long missions.
A few in Vietnam and a few doing the job I do now.
I feel for her.😊

Same, it is amazing where one can learn to sleep, and in what conditions one can also fall asleep in. In the field in particular. O.o

I have fallen asleep while two M60s sent rounds down range. Slept right thru the two attacks on our firebase. I had been up at the time over 30 straight hours.
Slept in a car with a donut pillow supporting my neck and a towel over my head. Hurricane Rita deployment. No hotel places to sleep😊

Oh, man that must have been something. I don't have anything quite as grand, I did manage to get some 'Z's while in the field, this time on a moose hunt in Alaska. There was about half an inch of snow on the ground and I had been building myself a sort of all natural shelter in the 'V' of a broken willow. Lacking tarps one had to make due. After about six hours I curled up in that thing, and managed a twenty minute power nap.

The worse I have done when it came to sleep deprivation was when I was in Senior year of high school. Having gotten through almost all of my finals save for my history class. Three days of intermittent sleep had not done much to help, combined with the soft lit auditorium they put us in to test, and I was out while only making it two thirds of the way through my final. Thankfully it was all multiple guess, and one of my fellow students woke me up near the end. I had just enough time walking up the podium to turn in my answer sheet to mark the last 25 questions as 'B' and hope for the best.

Wow!
I too did a bit of Alaska survivor mode.
Some buddies wanted to drive from our base at Fort Greeley to Anchorage.........in the dead of winter and that car was crap.
I went along for laughs and to reacquaint myself with a sister of one of my buds. She was a warm thing to snuggle and really friendly.
Anyway that car gave out about twenty miles outside of Palmer. Luckily I had my cold weather gear and sleeping bag and a grad of the Arctic survival school. They wanted to sleep in the car. I headed out cutting a fir down leaning it on the stump then hollowing it out and covering with snow.
I closed the front with a blanket making a fair shelter.
I slept really good.
They were nearly frozen in that metal uninsulated box.
Only fell asleep in class in college.......late nights and classes too early.......like 10am🤪

Lol I can just see this happening, Palmer is not one of those places you want to break down around as the closer you get to Valdies the wetter things get. Your really have to wonder about some people, staying in a metal box? In the winter? Does the word madness come to mind to you too?

People used to laugh when the saw my emergency survival bin. I always keep one on hand as you never know exactly what you are going to run into out there. One of its best features was the addition of not one, but two rolls of toilet paper. Gold when you are out in the field.
