Kathy Tyers wrote a good book called 'The Truce at Bakura' where the Empire and the Rebels have to team up immediately after the battle at Endor to deal with the Ssi-Ruuk, a race of incredibly violent and territorial spacefaring bipedal dinosaur-like lizards. The red ones, like this one, are the fightingest caste of the fightingest race in the expanded universe.Related content

This does not look like a ssi-ruu to me, it looks more like a reptomammal, (mammal-like-reptile).
Just my interpretation.

My first look at a Ssi-Ruuk many years ago was in the Ultimate Alien Anthology, where it looked like a large slavering purple reptile. Later I read the book and saw other artists' interpretations. This is pretty close to the image I developed when I read 'Truce at Bakura'. Sensory fibres on the nose, biped for work or quadraped for speed with flexible digits for tool use and retractable claws. That last one is a big deal as far as I'm concerned... how can Trandoshans develop or use tools with those crazy long claws?
Anyway, this is just my take on 'em for my home-brewed Star Wars RPG campaign. Not meant to be canon, if such a thing still exists.

Slavering means enslaves others.
As for the Ssi-Ruuk, they'd be aliens so, weird, anatomy wise.
It was good art.
The books, my sources, portrayed them as predatory dinosaurs (almost), with some traits that were weird.
All in all, it probably was as accurate as any other fan's ideas.
claws are great tools for digging, and probably the Trandoshans, used the 'balls' of their fingers for manipulation, rather than the tips, like we do. (think people who have long fingernails).
You can obtain sourcebooks online or in bookstores for Star Wars.
I'd still keep it here, as an art project.

If memory serves me correctly; Salivating means drooling, slavering means enslaving others.
