"Dad says it's not going to be long now. The cities are built, and soon, they will come, and keep coming." Jerry's voice held a hint of melancholy as he gazed out over the verdant Ganimet jungle.

Tom shrugged, the sunlight reflecting off his freckled cheeks. "It's just progress, man. You can't stop it. We're not the first to feel this way."

Jerry shook his head, his brow furrowed. "But there's the Indigen Initiative. We could go indigen, live outside the cities. Get a free settling rights and go for a claim on a wild patch of land. Live natural. A lot of people are doing it."

Tom raised an eyebrow. "Really? Have you asked Mini?" He nodded toward the tiny sentient robot perched on a nearby rock.

Mini's metallic eyes flickered as he joined the conversation. "If you're asking whether I'm up for getting bugs in my gyros, the answer is a resounding no. I rather enjoy my maintenance."

The boys laughed, but the thoughtfulness remained in their eyes.

"I don't know, Jerry. It's a big decision," Tom said, leaning against a tree. "Sure, the jungle's great, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows out here. There are dangers, and we'd be far from the comforts and conveniences of the cities."

"But don't you see, Tom?" Jerry spread his arms wide, encompassing the vista before them. "This is our heritage. It's where we come from. Do we really want to be part of the machine that chews it up and spits it out as concrete and steel?"

Tom sighed, kicking at the dirt with the toe of his boot. "You make a compelling case, but what about our families? They're not all going to jump on this indigen train. We'd be leaving them behind."

Jerry nodded, understanding the weight of the decision. "Yeah, I know. It's just...something to think about, I guess."

The two friends stood side by side, staring out at the jungle, each lost in their own thoughts, while Mini hummed an old Earth tune in the background.
