SooooOOOOOooooOooo... I just downloaded and played Metroid Zero Mission for the very first time. And MAAAAAN, what a cool story! Samus's suit gets disabled in a horrendous crash, leaving her stranded on a hostile planet with nothing but a crappy little stun pistol and an emergency flight suit, so she has to infiltrate a space pirate capital ship basically naked. No morph ball. No space jump. No high-tech beams or explosives. The pirates chase her and chop at her and shoot at her mercilessly, probably just because they don't realize that this little blonde mammal is actually the galaxy-renowned 'Hunter', whom they fear above all other life.
In my opinion, the whole thing really just elevates Samus to an entirely new and unheard-of level of awesome. Sure she's USED to wearing a tank around, but when it comes down to it, and it's really kill-or-be-killed, she can walk the walk with nothing at all. No hesitation. No fear. All business.
Like, come ON, that's some serious stuff right there! So cool.
Except that's not what everybody sees when they see Samus in the zero suit. If you've been on the internet, you've seen all the smutty, overly-sexualized fanart lying around, so you know what I'm talking about.
So... Yeah. I just wanted to draw something to counteract all that. Here's 'Zero Suit Samus' as she SHOULD be looking. I also took a few creative liberties with the suit, such as a parachute harness across her shoulders, kneepads, a medical kit, a radio, and a fluid recycler built into her space-diaper.
And I don't know WHAT she just did to that poor handyman, but I figure the mystery is better left unanswered.
So yeah.
To close off, here's a quote from Robert A. Heinlein's book 'Starship Troopers'.
"Sergeant? I guess this knife-throwing is fun... But why do we have to learn it? What possible use is it?"
"Well," answered Zim, "Suppose all you have is a knife? Or maybe not even a knife? What do you do? Just say your prayers and die? Or wade in and make him buy it anyhow? Son, this is real- it's not a checker game you can concede if you find yourself too far behind."
"But that's just what I mean, sir. Suppose you aren't armed at all? Or just one of these toadstickers, say? And the man you're up against has all sorts of dangerous weapons? There's nothing you can do about it; he's got you licked on showdown."
Zim said almost gently, "You've got it all wrong, son. There's no such thing as a 'dangerous weapon.'"
"Huh? Sir?"
"There are no dangerous weapons; there are only dangerous men. We're trying to teach you to be dangerous- to the enemy. Dangerous even without a knife. Deadly as long as you still have one hand or one foot and are still alive (...) Get him you must, even barehanded."

Sure does make the moment where you get the suit back and better than ever all the sweeter, too, yeah?

Definitely. That was the best and most triumphant moment of the game.

Lore wise, It will be not this scenario, as she was by the chozo in their martial arts, not only that, but she trained in several other martial arts, not only that, but we have the good old gravity formula and the fact the she was augmented to survive the gravity of the chozo colony of zebes, couple that with the training in cqc and ki manipulation and you will end up with an unholy fusion of the boss (metal gear) and akuma

Those foolish nostalgic bounty hunter don't want to admit progress.Β Even having a gun in hand, she chose to risk her life fighting in a close combat.Β That trope always made me cringe.Β But this time I forgive her for being samus.

I do like the Zebesian Space Pirate designs here, I'd be interested to see your take on Federation Force, to be honest

Yeah, I just stuck pants on the mp3 pirates and called it a day.
Federation Force, huh? Gotta say, that does seem interesting. The giant mech suits could be pretty cool if they weren't... You know... Animated like Calvin and Hobbes.

Or even an interpretation of Metroid: Rogue Dawn (fan game based on the story in the first game's instruction booklet)

The still standing Pirate is smart.
