Oh my... I think I've fallen in love with your art style. I love the line, the color, everything!

Wow, thanks! I like it too. The lines are all done in pencil by hand, and the colors are added with the computer, so it's pretty easy.

This looks like it'll be really cool! I like the design of her suit here. A bit slimmed down but still powerful and imposing.

Disclaimer, I would try to throw lore at you because I'm a fanboy, but anything I would say has already been covered by TheAccursedHunter01 down there. lol Please don't take me seriously.

Still, eagerly looking forward to this. I'm already liking what I see so far!

Thanks! Yeah, my version of the suit takes pretty heavily from the Metroid II/Super/Brawl appearance, which I liked because it was so bulky and mechanical-looking. I did shrink it down a little, hopefully to the point where a person might be able to fit in there.

I've fanboyed over this franchise for many years as well. As far as I've seen, Metroid lore seems about 40% awesome, 10% dumb, and 50% player speculation. I knew from the start that I'd be fudging it pretty far for this story, but I only hope I'm fudging it in a direction that increases the awesome and decreases the dumb. Fingers crossed that it all works out, and the rest of the fandom is able to put up me with me while it does.

Really glad you're liking it so far!

Unlike some other fans out there (no offense to them), I am actually pretty welcoming to new interpretations or even new kinds of games (I did not hate Federation Force for example). So I wish you the best of luck with this!

Interesting take on the Power Suit, really like how the helmet comes down. Love the mechanical details on the Power Suit and Samus' ship. I adore the overall atmosphere so far and the fact that the viewer and Samus aren't disconnected/feel like one entity just like in the games. Although not an obvious fact (unfortunately), the Power Suit has organic components to it that bond the suit to Samus herself. The fact that the Power Suit is separate and that Samus' shoulderpads are of a respectable size makes it seem like the comic won't be 100% super duper lore accurate (not saying that to be mean or anything), but for stuff like this that's fine. Definitely looking forward to more, excellent job so far.

Ha ha, Yeaaaaaah. I know the suit has organic components. I imagine it looks something like the suit from 'Crysis' beneath the outer layer, with biomechanical muscle system and skeleton. (I draw what I can of that in the black cables in the joints.) But I don't think it being stored separate from her body is too wrong. After all, we see her removing the suit at the end of basically every game, and in Zero mission it's completely destroyed when the ship crashes when she's not wearing it...
I dunno.
All in all, I'm trying to make this feel as gritty and 'real' as possible, which includes making everything a little bit lower-tech. So I'm gonna be omitting the morph ball, most exotic beam weapons, all holograms, and the whole thing where the suit appears and disappears off her body. You're right, the canon itself may take a little bit of a backstage, but It's all part of the atmosphere I'm going for, and I don't think any of my changes are too far out of bounds. Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it so much (I know I am), and it'll definitely get more exciting in times to come.

"We see her removing the suit at the end of basically every game, and in Zero mission it's completely destroyed when the ship crashes when she's not wearing it." Samus "took off" the Power Suit before she crashed (makes you wonder how she survived that in just the Zero Suit) and based on a Q&A with Sakamoto, the Power Suit is integrated with her entire body, not that it will have any bearing on your comic (here's a link the the Q&A itself if you're interested, note that the page for questions 11-20 is missing since it's on the old Metroid Database website:  www.metroid-database.com/old_s…).

There's also the part from Fusion's beginning cutscene where Samus says: "It then came to light that the organic components of my Power Suit had become so integrated with my system that it could not be removed while I was unconscious." I doubt anyone has been able to cut open Samus' Power Suit, so how far the organic components go probably wasn't known to the GF. It seems like 90% of Metroid lore is speculation so who knows what's real, but one of the few facts that Nintendo has graced us with is the "Samus' suit is apart of her body" thing. That in and of itself is a Japanese concept of sorts, acting like your weapon is apart of you. I like that aspect though since Samus' suit can never be stolen and could have some sort of Batman dynamic of "Who am I really, the person or the suit", but that sort of thing has been very mildly hinted at in the backstory manga and never again. However, considering the feel you're going for, the suit being separate is very fitting.

If you're trying to go for a more realistic feel for everything, you'll basically make at least 70% of Samus' kit null and void, lol. Something like the Morph Ball could be a drone or something. However, power ups like Samus' Ice Beam, one of her most iconic abilities, shouldn't be plausible (or so I've heard) unless she uses some sort of Freeze Gun equivalent from Other M. Not sure if you're going to go for some sort of beam ammo system or not. I guess I'll have to wait and see good sir.

Actually, there is a real-life idea similar to the ice beam! It's called laser cooling.  Currently, it only works on isolated atoms or molecules, and is used to cool down low-density gases, but it could be in theory made to work on a larger scale.  It works by basically hitting the molecules with a laser that's at just the right frequency to slow its movement down by making the molecules absorb the photons and re-emit them in a random direction, which will slow the molecules down and consequently, lower the temperature.  It's used now to create ultracold gases for quantum physics experiments.

(I couldn't help but add this, I like finding out when sci-fi has realistic basis and sharing it.)

Ohhh okay. I'd never seen that quote before. Most interesting.

I imagine the organic component of the suit as a bulky layer of muscles beneath the outer armor. She might have some kind of cybernetics that allow the suit to extend through her skin and attach to bones, and then they share a nervous system so she can control it. It would still be able to detach from her body though, and the only reason they couldn't get it off in Fusion (and presumably in Corruption) was because she was unconscious, and she couldn't release it.
And I also tended to imagine that it somehow teleported on and off of her body, and was stored somewhere on her ship... Guess I was way off.

But in the end, yeah. You're 100% right about most lore being speculation. The official data says that the suit is linked with her body and made of energy so can summon it out of her body with concentration... But if that were the whole story, it seems like it wouldn't have any mass, or even be a suit at all. It seems like it would be, like... A force field made of skin? IDK. But instead we see thick, bulky, metal armor. So I dunno. Nobody friggin' knows.

Shaving her abilities down to the bare bones was part of the intention. I'll keep her Prime 1 visors, the plasma beam, the missile arsenal, the space jump, and the shinespark (drawing the last two so they use her back rockets, since those are cool but the games never really use them.) My thought was that most of her abilities are reduntant from a storytelling perspective. After all, it doesn't really matter whether she uses wave/ice/plasma/spazer/light/dark/annihilator beam as her main weapon, because they would pretty much all have the same stopping power against an ordinary creature. And if she needs to fit through a tight space, blow something up, go really fast, or climb a wall, she can crawl, has missiles, a jetpack, and super strong hands, so the morph ball and all its myriad functions are sort of extraneous. Most beam weapons seem to get their energy straight off the suit's power grid, and she usually carries more missiles than she could ever use in a 50-page comic, so I don't think ammo is any sort of issue.

An apparent aspect of the Power Suit is being able to convert energy/information into something physical. In Fusion Samus literally downloads Missiles and Bombs. Samus can also convert the X Parasites she absorbs into energy for her energy shielding and ammunition for her Missiles apparently. Considering that, having the Power Suit itself being stored as pure energy somewhere doesn't seem too far-fetched. There's an Iron Man Suit that is stored in the hollow parts of Tony Stark's bones. There's also the fact that 99% of atoms are composed of empty space, so considering the Chozo have been stated as being the most advanced race in the universe (that didn't fix their reproduction/extinction problem apparently...), you can think up any excuse or just say it's magic and move on, lol.
