Description

The morning fog was thick, muffling all noise around her as Sorcha padded across the dirt of the path. She had started to feel an urge to wander now that she was stronger, the extra care her mother had given her had started a growth spirt that had her bypassing her siblings in size. She might have started out life as a runt, but now she was the pick of the litter.

Movement in the grass caught Sorcha’s eyes as she wondered along the dirt trail, she stilled and waited. Soon a bright and shiny scuttled out of the grass and started down the path. Young muscles tensed and Sorcha sprang for the bug. An angry buzzing sounded from the bug as it began to fly away down the path. Not wanting this chance of a quick meal to slip away the young yuta bounded after the beetle.

Her focus was entirely on the little, shiny, green beetle, ignoring the fog shrouded forest path she ran down. She slowed as the beetle landed on a rock, now was her chance to strike. Her hind legs tensed and she leapt forward; a powerful feeling gathered in her forepaws and much to her surprise, the ground shattered under her paws. The ledge the beetle had landed on broke off under the force of her new found ability sending her tumbling down a rock face.
