Description Hiya!

So my sister decided she wanted to watch me draw last night, and this is what came out of it. My sister has some super gorgeous orange/red hair, and she's also obsessed with all things related to some book called "Ranger's Apprentice". So, here is my sister as a hypothetical medieval Princess. BUT, I'm also reading Kristin Cashore's "Fire", so this could be Fire too. Or Merida.

I DON'T KNOW WHO SHE IS PEOPLE!!

I like her as Merida, she doesn't really look like Fire as Fire is dark-skinned.

Hmmm, that's true I suppose. I never got past chapter 4-ish in that book, but my sister finished it. I don't think she cared for it all that much.

Dark skin with that color hair would be fantastic!

Ah that explains why you didn't know - her skin color isn't mentioned until Bitterblue!

But yep!

Actually, the Delians dark skin is referenced in Chapter 2 of Fire:

"But the men of Pikkia, although not all alike, tended to be big and lighter-skinned than their Delian neighbours. Not small and dark like the blue-eyed poacher had been."

That's true, it is referenced. Bitterblue makes it completely clear though.

Thank you for pointing it out! If I draw her in the future, I'll be sure her skin is dark!

Thanks! And she very well may have meant this..."Cassandra". I don't know--I don't read Ranger's Apprentice I hear they're making a movie out of it though, so I'll probably see that!

Oh yes, I am an unfortunate victim of the PJ book/movie disappointment. Actually, "disappointment" doesn't even cover it. The books were sooooo good, and the movie was soooooooooooooooooooooo bad, lol. Yeah, that was just unfortunate....I hate that Logan Lerman played in it because he was the perfect Percy...

ANYWAY

I'll definitely think about reading them this summer, if I can! My sister's been bugging me about reading them, so I'll probably give 'em a go Thanks!

ok cool! (OH and i TOTALLY agree with ur opinion with Loan Lerman, he was perfect but the rest ruined it )

I know, it was such a shame. He was the perfect Percy. But the actors they picked for both Annabeth and Grover were completely horrible.

YES! She was supposed to have curly blond hair and tan skin....The actress in the movie had straight brown hair and pale skin. AGGHH!!!

I know...I've never been so disappointed by a book-turned-movie before

I heard they're making the sequal. Same people, same actors, everything.

katelise33 In reply to ColetteCopeland [2013-04-09 02:04:17 +0000 UTC]

how could they? i have a lot of PJ loving friends who HATED it like me. even people who didnt even read the books disliked it! if they do a new cast it might b OK i think...but as you say they r keeping it so idk why they would do another one when so many people hated the 1st?! *_*

ColetteCopeland In reply to katelise33 [2013-04-09 02:12:53 +0000 UTC]

That's exactly what I thought! Apparently the previous actress of Annabeth has at least dyed her hair blonde for this movie, though. Here are some pictures:

I only read the first 4 books, I think. It's been about 2 years, though! So my memory isn't all that great either, lol. But you're right--she does look more like Annabeth now (thanks be).

I FOUND THE OFFICIAL TRAILER!!! [link]
And actually....it looks pretty awesome.

ColetteCopeland In reply to TEEHEEperson [2013-04-03 12:36:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I was going to do a little better about coloring in the lines, but then I wanted her hair to sort of reflect her personality; free flowing, not constrained.

vivacian [2013-04-02 18:47:51 +0000 UTC]

i would love to see what she would look like without the lines through her hair. you + lineless color = something impressive. the reason i say this is the bottom edge of her hair seems to be spiked with the lines as if it needs them as a "barrier" from the white. if you could use highlights and lowlights to describe the movement instead of boundaries... who knows? otherwise i think this is a lovely piece, whomever it is!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ColetteCopeland In reply to vivacian [2013-04-03 12:38:22 +0000 UTC]

That's a great idea! I was kind of going for a free-flowing look, so I didn't constrain her hair to just the lines. But you're right....it does look a little odd, haha! Hmmm...I should totally try that. Thank you!
