Description
The recent upswing in Cosette hate after the movie has left me feeling all maternal towards the poor darling...plus I've been toying with Cosette/Courfeyrac lately. And I don't draw enough women these days!Related content

I always rather liked Cosette, myself. But when I saw this picture I gasped in amazement- those great clear eyes you gave her are stunning, and her neck is indeed as delicate as a previous commenter has pointed out. I can see how Marius and Valjean always call her "the angel." This is exquisite work!

Poor Cosette. To say I disliked her for a while isn't a lie. She just seemed so boring. I really should have looked into that earlier. But my personal relations with her aren't the topic right now. My eyes keep darting between her eyes and her neck. Kinda strange. But her neck is what I noticed first, how can you make a neck so delicate? I can't even describe it really. And her eyes look so soul searching, in her own world, and yours. She's so sweet.

I do have a bit of a thing for necks - although they often lean towards the stylised when I draw them! Glad you like it

Cosette/Courfeyrac is love. It's a very interesting pairing, as is Cosette/Theodule.

She is lovely! I adore the petit facial features you've given her; the lips especially are just darling.

Great job on this one (and may I say I am glad to see she is a brunette!)

Hold the phone....people've been hating on Cosette? Again! *facepalm*
Very lovely drawing, as per usual.

She looks so pretty! A bit more mature than I imagine Cosette would be; maybe this is her a year or so after the story?

The shading is lovely! I have not yet mastered this myself - I still have a great deal of trouble conveying face shape. I love her hair, too. It looks very vintage.
Not that I actually know anything about French hairstyles in the 19th century.

Unfortunately a lot of it seems to be misfocused variations on "she stole Marius!" I even saw her called a "selfish, whiney bitch". It's disappointing, to say the least - I can understand contemporary readers not relating to her or finding aspects of her depiction problematical because of the way in which she's written from a 19th century male perspective, but unfortunately much of the hate seems focused on her (perceived) role in a supposed love triangle.

I am ashamed to say I have not seen Les Miserables performed on stage, but I knew the storyline long before the movie. It seems to me that Cosette's character could've been formed negatively in a different director's eye, but the movie take on it made her appear anything but "Bitchy".
