How-to: Swimmable mermaid tail

See pictures of these in my folder here .This costume is not for everyone. Only intermediate to advanced swimmers should attempt swimming in it, and always have a buddy with you. For those of you who want to know how to swim in it, my Kairi made a swimming tutorial for you. Please practice first and always stay safe.
Lots of requests for this, so here you go.
This took a lot of research online to figure out for myself and I'm sharing it for other fans. xD
The tops are not covered in the tutorial. All I did was take the swimsuit material and cover a bikini top for Kairi, making up my own pattern for it. Sora's is a surfer's rash guard I cut the bottom off, put in elastic, and added the detailing, so when we're next to each other, people can see the similar theme based off their KH2 tops.
Everyone go say hi to my amazing Kairi! She's such a good sport and willing to put up with all my costume crap, and will wear whatever I make her. She needs to get credit for being awesome. ^_^

AWESOME. There is a bar here called the Sip N Dip and there are mermaids that swim in a giant tank. It's cool to see how one could make the tails! Awesome job!

longer than the seams lasted under the stress of swimming... I'm remaking the tail because the seams finally wore out 2 years later. The paint is still there even after chlorine pools.

thanks, mate! I actually researched a few different sites, decided I liked various ideas but nothing as a whole, and engineered my own way incorporating what I liked.
And swimming with a tail is an experience that made all the trouble worth it.

Thanks for putting up this tutorial! I used it last year on my Melody fin, but I'm going to pretend that didn't happen because it turned out "meh". Right now, I'm using it for my Camie fin and it will hopefully be much better

I had a few issues here and there. Mostly with sewing the fabric. If people have issues with their machines jamming and skipping stiches, use a ballpoint needle with clear nylon thread. It worked great after weeks of not understanding what the heck was going on. XD

Yeah, I had to adjust my sewing machine's tension a LOT to keep the material from jamming. But it looks amazing! Good job!
