True, the glowstone does look nice. We expirimented a little, and in the end on the realm I built this we discovered we could turn the fire spread off, so all wood is safe from fire now lol.

Thank you for uploading this here! I bought the book but could barely see it in Kindle. Built this today as spawn on my server.

also, I tried coarse dirt for under the stable and I think it worked quite well, I also put a fountain in the area between the stables and a cobblestone path around it

The firepit is still setting fire to the rest of the inn for me, I'm using glowstone for the moment but how do I fix that?

ColtCoyote In reply to SGT-subtle [2015-01-20 01:45:51 +0000 UTC]
I'm beginning to think the fire physics has changed since this design came out, my first builds of it never had the issue, but now the fire pit is basically unusable without fully enclosing it in iron bars which looks blea. I haven't tried lava yet so I dono if it would work. I my just delete it in the next build of this.

First time I tried this design i ended up making a chimney with iron bars that ended at the top level of the roof, it worked well enough, and didn't look too bad considering

hummm, I may try that on my test build, if it works I'll credit you in the design!

as a sidenote, I put stairs around the top of the iron bar chimmney

ColtCoyote In reply to hibobtedjerryfred [2015-01-05 05:28:01 +0000 UTC]
stairs, well and stables all have some minor mistakes, for now just build it using common sense, it should be clear where a block is suppose to go if it's out of place. I'm way behind again due to life and work issues so it may be some time before this one gets fixed properly.

yes I know, its on my fix (again) list, I screwed up the stairs fixing the firepit.

Why does the position of the water pit change? is it supposed to be like that?

On the first layer with the upside down steps, do the bottom of the steps point toward the fire pit of the bookshelves? Just making sure.

on these plans the fire pit on layer 0 is not centered with the iron bars on the next couple of layers. it is one block to the left.Β

Go right on ahead. That is why I posted it.
I dig down like, three layers, lay four cobblestones on the third (It's not really needed, just looks nicer if unearthed.), on the second layer I place the Netherack and surround it by more cobblestone. the ground layer has the stairs facing with the bottom part inward. Layers one and two have iron bars, layer three has stairs with the bottom part facing out on the perimeter, and the inside has upside down stairs with the steps facing in (again, not needed, you could use regular stone bricks), and the top most layer has stairs facing outward again.
I dunno if that gives you a clear enough picture, but that's how it is. I only thought of how to write it just today.

The updated plans are looking really good.
I don't have a screen shot of it, but I do have another note on design for you. The floorplans stairs look a lot nicer if you place another stairset under them upside down. The roofs look a lot nicer that way. And I made the top glass panes connect across by putting some regular planks next to them that match the roof. It's not the prettiest solution, but it's still passable.

DO NOT BUILD THE FIRE PIT!!!!
I just finished the second floor and the whole thing burnt down.
Lava is dangerous...

ColtCoyote In reply to rainlover531 [2014-01-09 05:52:03 +0000 UTC]
Yes there is a fire issue you have to either ring the firepit with iron bars or build the 2nd floor area around the opening with cobblestones. this is on my list of re-works.

well i built one...

apparently there's a design flaw, and wood is much more combustible than i thought. i knew there was a reason i always used stone. -_-'

ColtCoyote In reply to ken-no-shi [2013-12-06 12:21:01 +0000 UTC]
Yes sadly it seems to catch fire a lot, altho never on my test build - change the rim of the upper floor to stone cobbles or enclose the open firepit in iron bars to fix it, i will make a new one after the holidays.
