Because Articuno is a girl? At least from what I read, it seemed like she was a girl, some people say no because in the video games the bird doesn't have a gender, but I'm just going on a whim.

Don't worry. We know the leggendaries have no gender, except for few such as Cresselia or Latis .
And you're not alone, I saw it as a female, too. And not only, Virizion is female on the game, a spin-off pokemon, MD Gates to Infinity. ;D
