huh. never knew this. thank you. where did you learn this information. I feel that I'm struggling with my ability to tone. I also have issues with inking. do you have resources that you can make available, or practices that could guide people along?

Mostly from Experience and Experimenting... I do suggest you focus on Inking first, as it plays a vital role in tone work. As for my resources... sorry but I can't share them... but there's a lot on the web...

Thank you just the same. Do you have a suggestion on pens that can be used. I'm currently using staedtler pigment liner, but i am growing dissatisfied with the results they provide.

Pigment Liners are the best out there since they're easy to maintain... having a nib or two will suffice for beginners. You can also try using High quality paper... Velum or Kent/Manga Paper for your work.

4th one is used to avoid monotonous gradation on characters and objects... it helps things stand out... without using Gradation tones.
