Yet Another Planet Scene v1.3: 110% Paint.NET!Note the new moons. I've also modified the rings, actually, started over from scratch. I also fixed the stars up a bit. Please comment and critique, this won't be the last version, and your advice has made a difference!

A lot of different effects went into making the stars, but noise was the first. And thanks!

I am as PDN proud as the next user. But I feel you might be able to produce even more realistic rings with Apophysis. That is not to say that the current rings are bad. Not at all. Its great!
Space is a place we humans know little about, let alone myself. The light sources that exist out there I can't even fathom. But with my little artistic knowledge I have gathered that the shadows aren't consistent. But perhaps you were implying various light sources. I just thought I would just second what Phaedrus mentioned.
Once again, great work.
I like your determination. That is great!

What an eloquent way of saying, "The lightings wrong!"
I never thought of using Apophysis to do rings. I wouldn't know how to, but I'll look into it.
Thanks for all your input!

haha I didn't want to step on anyone's toes there. And too, I wasn't quite sure if that was intentional or not.
By intentional I mean trying to imply various light sources.
But if not...
THE LIGHTING IS WRONG!

I like it, though the shadows aren't consistent.

Very Nice!
Some things I see, It is more visually interesting to draw the image from the side of the planet, with the shadow of the planet on the rings. Also maybe make some transparent gaps in the rings like in real life. Don't let my constructive criticism fool you, I think it is a great image.

Don't worry, I greatly appreciate constructive criticism! Most of your advice mirrors my own feelings: I have it set up so the rings can be transparent, I just didn't in this picture. Also, I plan on adding a shadow, I just didn't have the chance during government class.

If I may, I would like to suggest that the rings be a bit more transparent in your next version. Thus letting the stars shine through the rings a bit.
Great job by the way. Everyone seems to be doing these scenes. Perhaps I should try one.

You should try, it's fun, and you can learn a lot in the process. And I do plan on making the rings a bit transparent. Thanks!
