The Kingdom of Uthenland's Interceptor class destroyers were hardly modern by the time the GRCKN was established in 1922. Laid down as a contemporary of the Honourable class battleships, the Interceptors were small, nimble and for their size quite heavily armed with a comprehensive torpedo battery; however, their endurance matched their size, and the type was quickly outclassed by later destroyer developments. But with the GRCKN badly needing ships following its creation and the ban on large ship construction being in place, the aging Interceptor class destroyers--now redesignated as submarine chasers--were still deeemed necessary and so soldiered on into the 1930s, by which point the nearly three decades old destroyers were finally removed from frontline service. A number of the ships have been retired given their age and the difficult of maintaining them, but a small number were re-engined with diesel powerplants and serve on as coastal patrol and harbor duties ships, occupying a range of roles from submarine chaser to minesweeper.

Following the introduction of new naming nomenclature for destroyers with the S class  destroyers in 1924, the Interceptor class was by this point no longer considered a destroyer, and accordingly their names were not changed. Reeclassified as torpedo boats, the design's downfall came with the 18 inch torpedos being phased out in favor of the longer range 22 inch pieces , and the engineering required to keep the type viable in this role was not prudent, and the type began being phased out; the Interceptors were  finally beginning mass retirement bythe early 1930s. A number however survived scrapping and were refitted for shorter range operations sans torpedo tubes as submarine chasers and other small roles. Pictured here is an Interceptor class ship as it might have appeared in the mid 1920s, during the first few years of the GRCKN.
