(Story mentions this fight )
(Story mentions Rejection  for Vulcan/Wisteria history)

"Wow, Petra! He's REALLY strong!" little Fern exclaimed aloud, looking up to the reddish mare that stood beside her. "He will DEFINITELY be able to keep us safe!" Fern continued, turning her gaze back forwards. The reddish mare (Petra) emitted a gentle hum in agreement, but it was a third mare that actually spoke up.

"Yes yes, he will do..." the oldest of the three stated, a grullo sabino mare (Durga). Her age lines were easy to spot, mostly around her muzzle and eyes. From simply observing the way she held herself, one could also assume that she was most-wise. "Thank you for escorting us all this way, Romero." Durga spoke next to a stallion that stood a bit further behind the three mares. "We will be fine from here on."

With a soft nod, the dapple-enveloped stallion disapeared into the shadows without a word. Curious. Fern was the only one who watched the mysterious brute disapear before she returned her gaze forwards once again.

What was it that this small group was currently watching?
A most interesting scene, of course!
The heroics of Vulcan, the seal-bay stallion, who had just raced into battle to save a silver-haired mare from a villainous bachelor!

He had impressed these three, traveling mares; and now they were preparing their approach. Durga explained to both Fern and Petra that it was best to wait a few minutes though. The stallion needed a moment to catch his breath, and for his company (and their nerves) to settle before more horses came to demand their attention. Like stated earlier, Durga seemed most-wise. T'was why the other two willingly followed her.

---

While the three mares waited to approach, Vulcan, Valsa, and Wisteria DID find some time to settle down.

Valsa's grey lips gently kissed at Vulcan's wounds; which in turn, caused a satisfied groan to resinate inside the stallion's chest. Vulcan was truly lucky to have found Valsa. He was truly smitten with her, and made sure to express his appreciation by pushing his own muzzle gently against the side of her neck. Adoration-filled nuzzles would be administered against her gold-colored pelt before he dared to turn his attention towards Wisteria. He still needed to check on the other mare. Afterall, she had received her own injuries!

"Are YOU alright?" the stallion inquired with soft, caring eyes and a slight motion of his skull.

Wisteria hesitated, embarrased by her behavior during their past encounter. She bit her lip before finally responding, after she allowed herself a moment to feel the pain of her current wounds.

"My wounds burn, and so do my lungs--" she recalled the events again within her silent mind, realising just how hard and for how long she had just ran, "-- but I believe I will be fine." Now. Now was the perfect time for her to apologize for having been so rude to Vulcan in the past. Her amber-colored eyes found his chocolate ones... but then she hesitated again, switching her gaze over to Valsa's instead. The golden mare's expression looked.. so soft, so caring, and filled with a worry for Wisteria's current state. It warmed Wisteria's heart a little. She definitely wanted to remain in their company now, versus having to experience that bachelor band again! "Thank you," she finally spoke as she turned her eyes back towards Vulcan. "Thank you for fighting him off; and--" she hesitated yet again. It was understandble. It was hard not acting strong. It was hard feeling.. vulnerable! "-- I'm sorry for not giving you my name that one day. It's Wisteria, and I hope you can forgive me."

"I forgive you," Vulcan responded firstly with a nod. It was important to begin with that statement, as he wanted to give Wisteria the opportunity to let down her guard. "We went through quite a lot back at that... ranch(?)," Vulcan turned his skull towards Valsa as he spoke that last word with an air of question. Valsa nodded to confirm that he had spoken the word correctly, and this led to Vulcan returning his gaze back to Wisteria. "I shouldn't have followed you so closely when they let us go. I should have given you more time to adjust."

Wisteria's ears swivled forward and remained that way as Vulcan spoke to her. This stallion was surely something, and she truly appreciated the way in which he acceptable some blame-- even though, in truth, it was simply Wisteria's rotten attitude.

---

The three bachelorettes had begun their approach now, striking out from the woodline and into the dark field aloft a calm walk. Durga, of course, led their group. Petra trailed calmly behind Durga, but Fern (the shortest, youngest, and also the most-lively) was fighting the urge to excitedly spring forwards into a hasty gallop. She was trotting in place, or almost in place, her legs beating the ground fast but barely covering any ground as she remained obediently beside Durga.

Valsa was the first to notice their apporach from around Vulcan's shoulder. Though the sky had been claimed by darkness, and the fields also, it was easy for the lead mare to assume that these guests weren't a threat. Still, with two injured members, it didn't hurt to be cautious.

"Can we help you?" Valsa called out, which brought Vulcan and Wisteria's attention onto their new visitors as well.

"Those are some nasty wounds!" Durga called out, slightly muffled by the fernroot she now held between her lips. She kept her head low in line with her shoulders in respect to the group they approached. Though the leader of her own small group, her intent was not to challenge the leadership of this small herd.

"You fought SO BRAVELY!" Fern squealed in a burst of excitement, finally allowing her legs to carry her a bit past Durga. The dwarfed mare's words were meant for the stallion, Vulcan. "Durga knows how to use herbs and help you heal! If you can protect us too!" she continued to rattle on, her tail wagging like some excited canine's. Fern was quite odd, but both Durga and Petra seemed used to Fern's antics.

Wisteria, with a shake of her skull and a snort, walked around both Vulcan and Valsa to gain a distance from the hyperactive mare that was coming.

Valsa, on the other 'hoof', stepped forward to bring herself shoulder to shoulder with Vulcan. She was obviously eager to be social, and even produced a friendly laugh in response to Fern's outburts.

As fern approached Valsa with hesitation absent, and Valsa extended her nose to touch against this child-like mare's own, Durga kept her focus on Vulcan.

"As Fern has already stated," Durga spoke calmly as she placed the fernroot onto the ground. "I can use this to help heal your leg wound. An injury like that won't serve you well if more bachelors show up," she continued. It was probably best that the group move out from the open fields, too. Valsa was planning this already.

"Petra is due to foal soon, too." Durga continued as she motioned towards the reddish mare. "And so you see, .. we've been searching for a herd to join, if you'll have us."

---

Conversations would continue, with both stories and histories exchanged between the group.
Valsa and Vulcan would then end up accepting the three new mares into their herd.
The group as a whole would then move towards the safety of the forest line, where Vulcan and Wisteria's injuries could be tended to by Ms Durga.
