This piece has a kind of funny story. I had just started my AP art concentration, which, summed up, is "things that piss me off." It's actually a lot more complex than that, but hey, whatever. It was also about layering. So I found a notebook I had when I was about 3 and took notes on it at a model UN conference. These notes were really just me making jokes to my friends. Then this one girl gets up and reccommends that women in developing african nations should sell cell phones to their peers to make money. I was just in shock. So I took all my notes, and my placard which I had spent the better part of the conference doodling on, and made some art from it.Related content

The actual piece is about 30 inches wide... roughly. The placard and notes took all of a model UN conference (with occasional speaking time interrupting) and the rest of it took probably about 4 hours.

i really like the piece, i am a bit confused about the very detailed layer, the one that looks like: [ | ], more or less. I'm just wondering if you're drawing a cellphone with different clutter that comes out of a napsack, including a piece of art - or is it for decoration, or representing something. In any case, I like the composition, detail, and layering.. its all very cool.

when I first saw this I thought it was a just a stil-life drawing of a mobile phone, but now that i've looked closer, it's rather interesting to look at. There's so many different things and lots of detail. I really like how the screen on the phone is 'see through' - that's nifty.

I loved the story about his peice. My god the telephone thing would make me mad too. I love the blend and layering of this peice.. its hard to see where the phone especially the screen begins or ends. The chalk seems a little rough but then it is hard to control. Strangely the pit I like best of all is the place card doodle.

Ooo I like how you took everything and combined it, the cellphone is a major component, but it's not the only thing, and your eyes travel around the piece taking in all the details, it's just grand

The idiocracy of people... a cell phone has to be one of the most annoying creations in the history of technology.
ENOUGH OF MY FOOLISH SIDE COMMENTS! Very nice piece, the way you colored it and the ammout of details that you've added really is terrific. I thought the phone was real until I opened my brain eyes and looked at it. Another fine detail that a lack of brain eyes overlooks, is the way you've put your notes truly into the piece, by painting them on and in to it. I'm sure it's been done before, but it's quite brilliant on your part.

really, really cool. i love your attention to detail. there's so many layers to this piece i think i could look at it for hours at still find new things in it. really wonderful piece and great story to go along with it.
