Description Because I do, and really don't understand why people are complaining so much, HTML is easy once you know the basics. Dreamwave, worked with it, notepad is much easier!

If you agree with me, reply!

and feel free to use.

Yeah, I used to work with notepad, but I know Editplus now for about 4 years, and it's da bomb! Like notepad, but then with highlighting for many languages, highlight matching brace, show linenumbers (very useful for PHP), multiple tabs, regex replacing, and what I like best about it: working live on your website with FTP support ^^. You also have a shortcut: [ctrl]+[B] (for browser) to preview what you made Ow btw, its completely free.

But respect for you who only use notepad!

Haha, I remember we had THE EASIEST work in IT class in year 9, and I finished so early I decided to make a website, and only knew how to use notepad. Everyone around me was like "WTH IS THAT?!"
Made me feel special, haha.
Dreamweaver is easy in a way but can be pretty annoying and confusing. We had to make a website in dreamweaver last year and I found myself constantly going to HTML view.

I did the same thing; the only thing I liked about Dreamweaver was the option to switch to HTML view so that I could just work on it that way. I did learn a bit of HTML that way - I would try something I didn't know on Dreamweaver, then go to HTML view and see how it was done.

@__@ I would like to admit I am ashamed now, lol. I've forgotten all but the most basic of HTML because we had to do another website and I ended up using design view way more because it needed to look very pro (so rollovers and all that) and I ended up asking my dad for help @__@ So now I see the pros and cons of both ways, haha. Its a lot easier to do the fancy stuff/stuff you don't know how to do in Dreamweaver.

In my IT class (I'm in year 8) it is SO SIMPLE. I asked if we where going to be making websites. She said yes... USING A WEBSITE BUILDER. WTF?!? I want to let my inner coder lose! Today in school I was on the computer, opened notepad and started coding. Notepad FTW baby!

That's nice, but what about syntax highlight? Sure, html/css is easy enough but hunting down typos can be somewhat frustrating without it.

I agree that WYSIWYG editors are pretty much useless for antying remotely advanced, but writing code in windows notepad? I recomend vim/gvim

I use notepad, or TextWrangler if I'm on my Mac.
I have dreamweaver, but it's too much of a pain.

Hurray basics!

Every time I use programs it doesn't work out for me. Plus once you learn HTML it seems that programs will add random tags that don't really make sense v_v.

If you were to work on dreamweaver (and personally I do this when I used it) then I select 1/2 code and 1/2 image so I can see what I'm doing while typing out the HTML =]

That was before my trial edition expired though

I agree. Notepad is really good to use. It's free and you have more control over what you want to make with HTML, CSS, PHP, etc.

NIIIIIIIIIIICE! I taught myself HTML and am teaching myself CSS. I hate programs that do it for you, because they throw in a bunch of code that is redundant and sloppy and hard to interpret. Thanks for the stamp - I will most definitely use!

Sure, Notepad is practical for HTML, but once you start throwing in PHP it turns into a big mess due to the lack of syntax highlighting.
