Description
Because I do, and really don't understand why people are complaining so much, HTML is easy once you know the basics. Dreamwave, worked with it, notepad is much easier! If you agree with me, reply!
and feel free to use.

I ve never even been tempted to use dreamweaver once...but I use Crimson Editor, jsut Notepad with color lol....
you get to customize the font on Crimson Editor!! It looks nicer and you can highllight lines, so you spot mistakes better, but it's pretty much niotepad, as in you dont clicky buttons to get code written for you

I use notepad when I do HTML or CSS.
xD
Other programs go too slow, and notepad is simple.

Totally agree! I do just about EVERYTHING in a text editor. Notepad, vi, vim, pico, wordpad, whatever. Code generators throw in soooooo much crap that does nothing but slow down the page and make it hard to maintain. Right on!

hell yeah! I learned on notepad. I took a class after that which required that we make pages on FrontPage. I hated it and often cheated and went back to notepad.

This looks awesome.
The first time I learned to make websites I learned how to make them using only Notepad, and since then I have stuck to Notepad. I have actually never tried Dreamweaver.

Had to use frontpage for a school project.. it stinks. Honestly, I learned html on neopets, which let you type it into a big textarea, so very much like notepad :B

Yes, I have once stumbled across frontpage, and that was in junior high school. From what I have heard frontpage isn't too good ... gives you messy codes.

Heh... It's semi easy if you have big texts in which you need to edit words to bold and things, but thats it.

zomg. Yes. I hate Dreamweaver, it's not intuitive at all. And, like every other program that generates HTML code, it puts in extra garbage!
Gimme my text editor and I'm happy.

Me too.
Except, I have a special place in my heart for BBEdit. It zaps those damn gremlins that pop in if you copy from word, and you don't have to spend a half hour looking for the damned typo in your CSS that made it not work. XD Nevertheless, as soon as I get a sub, I am using this stamp. Why? Cuz I can only use BBEdit on the Macs... at school.

I use PHP Designer for its indentation, highlighting, and quote/parenthesis auto-completion. But still, I use Notepad all the time. *huggles it*

Ha! Love it! And I do. though I've been known to use other simple text editors too. I wrote my first website using PICO (I think that's what it was... that seems like so long ago).

Faving this makes me feel a bit hypocrite-ish, since my CSS really needs brushing up. Ah well, thanks for the reminder. I'll go dig my notes out.

lol. ok! a better wuestion would have been. is html the only language you can use in notepad? (which is probably a stupid question as well.)

ConDecepticon In reply to shimmen-iero [2007-08-31 13:52:47 +0000 UTC]
Well you can write anything in notepad, php, css, everything, aslong as you know how to write it. since it's just a notepad, it's easy and doesn't take ages to load or add stupid things. Thats why people use it to code.

shimmen-iero: Almost any program can be coded in Notepad. You may need a compiler afterwards (HTML, CSS, Perl, PHP, and JavaScript do not, but COBOL and C and FORTRAN do), but almost any programming language can be coded using Notepad. Exceptions are languages such as Piet ([link] ), which are not textual languages.
