The whole month of October in the second year of the Cycosian War involved the most heavy artillery bombardment from Follen forces anywhere on the planet. After Follen ships broke past Ark Union battle-cruisers they headed straight towards Union city, which held one of the few resupply launch platforms MSU used early on. Statistically, orbital rail cannons from Follen ships caused the most in terms of overall damage and Ark Union losses despite only being used sparingly. Planet shaker bolts fired from these rail cannons cracked the surface of the city and since the launch platforms were out in the barely defensible open, unlike Mt. Haversom, the launch platforms were quickly and methodically destroyed while the MSU forces in the city were trying to mount a defense of any kind against the constant bombardment. Even though it took a whole month for Follen to completely destroy the launch platforms, this doesn't mean that MSU forces put up a good fight. Of all things to happen to the MSU during the war, the Union City bombardment proved to be the most demoralizing defeat in the entire war.

Out of any engagement between Follen and MSU forces, the MSU took the most casualties in this single month alone. Casualties counting MSU forces both killed and injured during the bombing. This one incident could have possibly ended up driving the Ark Union off-world though luckily the MSU were able to stave off these attempts as their mechanized divisions were scattered across the planet at the time. AUCOM was able to recall and gather these divisions to create what was called the "Shrapnel Dome" seeing as the combined might of the mechanized divisions was at the very least capable of sending any Follen attack back on their rear, this also includes anti air and orbit capabilities with the MSU A.A.R.C. rail cannons. This lasted until mid-December when the MSU on the planet were finally relieved by their off-world reinforcements. These reinforcements were packed with all sorts of new or improved divisions and weaponry. These subsequent reinforcements then proceeded to hard-lock Follen into a stalemate on Cycosis by slamming a hammer down into the neck of Follens fleet. The neck being a main mobile production ship of many of Follens robots.
