When and how did you get started in Cosplay? 2007 SDCC, all my friends were doing it and it looked like fun so I finally joined in.
What was the most difficult character? That changes all the time, I would say my Tron Siren costume was the most challenging to both make (pattern was crazy and lighting is difficult) and wear (hard to wear fragile electronics)
What characters are you planning and type of character are you drawn to? I like a clean design and a sassy character. I don’t have any current plans for a future costume
What is your process when starting from the beginning with a new cosplay? I start with the materials, what do I have/what do I need to find. Then I do all the sewing, sometimes I do a draft, most of the time I don’t. Then I work on accessories and then props if there are any. I hate holding things so I tend to not make a prop
Are there any helpful hints in sewing, costume design or any other aspects of your cosplay that you discovered in doing your creations? The only thing I know is everything gets easier with practice, not a lot of tricks to it beyond keep trying and discovering what works for you.
Do you have a preferred brand of makeup in your cosplay? And if so why? I use MAC for basic beauty and Ben Nye or AquaColor Mehron for body paint. I use water based because I don’t tend to sweat so I don’t need to use alcohol based
What are you listening to? Bosa Nova Radio and French Traditional Radio on Pandora
Favorite Movies? Anything Lord of the Rings or Tron, I can play those on repeat all day, and often do.
Favorite Animes? DragonBall (all of them, well maybe not GT), Sailor Moon, Inuyahsa….okay honestly if I continue this list we’re so going to give away my age lol!
Favorite TV Shows? Community, Gilmore Girls, Archer, Bob’s Burgers, What We Do In The Shadows.
Is there a scene from an anime, cartoon, movie or tv show that left a big impression on you and what was it? No particular scene but I think ReBoot being one of my favorites as a child influenced why I love TRON.
Books? Just finished The Lost Apothecary, quite a good quick read
Games? Pokemon Go
Beverage? Coffee, like in a bowl
Fast Food/ Junk Food of choice? McDonalds breakfast is the one breakfast to rule all. And Panda Express.
Candy bar? Reese’s, Kit Kats, Snickers
Favorite Breakfast cereal? Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Is there something not going on in the cosplay world that you would want to see or is there something you would want to change? Honestly I think I’m out of the loop with what’s going on in the main swing of things, hopefully the kids are still having fun and the community continues to grow and be more inclusive and supportive.
What was your favorite toy growing up? No clue, not sure my mother could answer this one either. Maybe the TV? Does that count as a toy?
Who is your biggest character crush and why? I’ve got a few OTPs but I’m not one to personally have a husbando or waifu.
You enter a warehouse. There is little light, but you are able to find your way around. The sound of music draws you to a corner of the warehouse. There are FIVE GHOUL CLOWNS, playing a dancing video game. They have razor sharp teeth and scary weapons. Magic can not affect them; they sense your presence and turn facing you. They run to you to attack. Time to fight! What character would you want to be to defeat them and how would you handle the situation? Gelatinous Cube, none can win against that beast!
If you had to be chained with a character for one year, what would be the character and what would you do? Bulma Briefs, front row seat to a lot of crazy adventure and I’d get to learn about impossible tech.
You can have dinner with your favorite character. And at this dinner you may ask one question. Who would be the character and what would be your one question? Bob from Bob’s Burgers, and I’d ask what his favorite burger is, I feel like it would be a fun story and a delicious meal.
What's number 1 on your bucket list? (Something you want to do before you leave the planet). Fly around the world in first class with a pit stop in as many countries as possible.
What advice would you give to people getting started in Cosplay? Don’t be afraid to buy something that brings you joy. You don’t need to build every costume from scratch, you don’t need to make crazy big armor, just start with what you can handle and then if you want build skills to create more elaborate costumes.
