What was the moment or situation that inspired you to cosplay?
During highschool, when I saw pictures of hobbyists in the local community. Seeing that you can totally become someone that you never was born to, or priveleged to become. Even if it is a make believe hobby, it empowers you to think you can be anything in this world if you put your mind to it. That mindset you can bring outside of the hobby and even it other aspects in your life and career.
What have you been up to since last featured on
CONNECTED?
I have been working for a project for some time and have debuted it during the Pandemic. I designed and constructed a Cosplay Studio, AlleyCat. Various themed rooms where anyone can have a cosplay shoot in our little island. We aren't from the Capital so we are not always blessed with the best locations. But now, our local community in Cebu can have great photos here! It currently has five themes- White Room, Classroom, Oriental Garden, Scarlet Sanctuary and the Technoroom. It is always a working project for me because I plan to add even more rooms. Please look forward for it!
What’s the funniest thing you have seen at a CON?
When a certain mainstream anime or game gets cosplayed by a bunch of people during one convention and everyone groups up together for a photo. I think it's really funny and great! You can grab a cospartner from anywhere for a photo! Some people find it replusive to have similar cosplays but I think it's the best way to make friends and bond over our little nerdy worlds.
What cosplay shoots are you planning for the future?
This is a difficult question to answer because I have sooo many in mind. I think cosplay shoots are always the activity from this hobby I look forward to. I love creating impacting visuals and stories through photographs. (If I can manage to make some convincingly!) I am going to shoot for Diluc Ragnvindr with the Wolf's Gravestone, Kiriko from Overwatch and maybe Caitlyn Kiramman with an undercity vibes!
If you had to cosplay a historical figure who would it be and why?
I would love to cosplay Joan D' Arc because she has been a significant figure in French history and world of Catholicism. Her death is so symbolic and very poetic. Not that I want to die in the same way haha but I feel that would really look visually dramatic for a photoset.
What is the last movie you seen and did you like it?
It was Suzume no Tojimari and I think it is Makoto Shiniai's best work since Kimi no na wa. Visuals are amazing as always but the story is very reflective, honoring the stories of the old families and communities affected by disasters that ravaged Japan. It honestly takes you on a road trip, making you appreciate the other landscapes, this beautiful country has to offer aside from the bustling Capital. I think that was the most refreshing bit!
