Description
Once again, I am baffled by my own incredible creativity when it comes to deviation titles.Re-Animator is one of my favorite horror movies, and after re-watching it recently (and after reading Lovecraft's original short story for the first time) I felt like drawing good Dr. West. So I did, and because I've had such little time to color anything lately, I've been coloring this late at night for a few days.
It's fairly simple - no time for more elaborate things - but I hope you enjoy my tribute to a really cool film and a really crazy doctor

haha you better be careful, make sure your anatomy professor is not producing a weird, bright green serum! If he's called Herbert West, I recommend you stop taking Anatomy. And get away from him.

More or less. It's about a doctor that invents a fluid capable of bringing the dead back to life... but they don't exactly come the way they used to be, instead they are furious, violent beings... a bit like zombies, but not in the traditional way.

Awesome work. I like your dramatic multiple light sources in this one. I REALLY need to work on that kind of stuff in my own drawings.
Your 80s halftone continues to be incredibly appropriate. And, yes, Jeffrey Combs is super awesome.

Yes indeed, he rocks has Herbert West, I really love his performance. I heard there's a new Reanimator movie in the works, that could be interesting haha
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I felt like doing this because I thought it should be fun to color. I always loved the green glow of the reagent in the movie, it figured it be fun to try it on a drawing

Oh no. I'm getting so sick of these remakes of classics though. I don't think you could actually do better than the original.

I completely agree. I think they're remaking anything and everything these days, not even just the remakes, but adapting old tv shows to the movies too - last I heard, there is a Baywatch movie in the works. Is that really necessary? Ugh.
This new Re-Animator is a sequel though - apparently the president of the United States (played by William H. Macy) dies and Herbert West gets called on the scene - or so IMDB says. It sounds silly enough to be fun, I just hope they are able to keep the 80s sense of camp and fun and not try to make it all serious. I now sequels are terrible most of the time (although I did enjoy Bride of Re-Animator) so I'm trying to maintain a quiet excitement about this.

I think the FUNNIEST adaptation I've heard so far is Peter Berg is making a Battleship movie. Yes. Battleship. As in, "You sunk my ________!" The only way that could be redeemable is if the villain screams the tag-line as the ship sinks into the ocean. What's next!? Terry Gilliam directing, "Hungry Hungry Hippos"?
I'm ashamed to admit, that Re-Re-Animator sounds kind of fun.

Hahaha I know, I've heard about the Battleship movie a while ago. It's just getting ridiculous, very recently I heard there was going to be an Asteroids (the old videogame) adaptation to the big screen. I mean, talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. Soon we'll be seeing anything from adaptations of Snakes and Ladders to Lunar Lander.

URGH! Really!? That's terrible.
You know, I'm not trying to solicit you or anything, but have you seen the site my buddy is running? There's usually a number of threads about movies going on on there, and I'm pretty sure he's always looking for people to do movie reviews and stuff. Might be up your alley, considering how much you like talking about movies. [link]
If not that's cool too!

I've been there when the Emilio Estravanza contest was running (that by the way, I really meant to enter, but argh I've been having so many time constraints lately!), but I didn't have much time to really navigate it. Thanks for freshening up my memory though, I'll make sure to register over there and take part on the forums talk whenever I can!

I only just read the story recently and I really liked it a lot - being a fan of both Lovecraft's writing and the movie, I was only sorry I took to so long to get my hands on a printed version of the short story. I think that my favorite Lovecraft story still has to be Shadow over Innsmouth, for some reason. I really dig that one.
I'm very glad you liked this, thanks so much!

I NEVER get the movie or comic book references you make. I feel so ungeekified.
Anyway, very nice work around the face. Very nice indeed.
Think the part where the bottle overlaps his glasses looks a bit strange though.
But the texture looks very fitting and I like the background once again.

I think you get most of them, don't feel ungeekified That being said, I don't know how you stand on horror movies, but if you like them you should check out Re-Animator. It's one of those classic 80s movies, with some cool tongue-in-cheek humor and the proper amount of gore. So I recommend it.
Yeah, when I drew this I kinda looked at that overlapping part and something looked a little off, but I couldn't put my finger on it for some reason. Maybe because I drew and colored this over a course of some late nights, when my brain was already partially melted.
I'm glad you liked the texture and coloring Hope all is well with you!
