Presenting KhC Shes so Fine, a Thoroughbred mare I am hoping to buy from *sealle for Climax Stables. She is just the addition my stable needs.At first the bay mare explored the wide pasture, somewhat unsure of the unfamiliar surroundings, but she was quickly calmed by the smell of the warm spring grass and sight of the other horses grazing peacefully. The mare was soon enjoying herself, taking advantage of the space to run in, bright sunshine and sweet shoots to munch on.
I've been wanting to draw a grazing thoroughbred for some time now, strangely enough, and this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so. I really worked like crazy to get this done, and I'm pleased with how Soffe turned out, though I'm not quite sure if I like her shading or not yet.
The background, especially the silly little fence took ages though...I'm so glad they're finally done. 
And I redid the grass at least three times. I need to practice my backgrounds.

May I critique a bit?
I love the image. The horse looks fantastic and so vibrant. The only thing I see about her is that her eye is a bit close to her ear. Other than that, she looks great. I really hope you get her. The grass looks good, too.
...up until about where the fence starts curving in on the right. The blurry grass looks very inconsistant with the realistic looking grass in front. The perspective changes from an eye-level view to a bird's eye view, which is probably why you had trouble with getting it to look right. If you brought down the fence and the trees behind it to the bottom of that blurry portion, it would look a hundred times better.
Alternatively, you could get rid of the curved bit of fence to the right and keep repeating the texture of the lower bit of grass, especially like the texture in the light bit of grass to the left of the mare. Keep making the brush smaller as you go out, but don't blur it. The pasture will look very large, then, but will all be eye-level.
You also might consider making the clouds a bit "fluffier", if you know what I mean.
I adore the shading on the horse. It's so realistic and beautiful looking. Well-done!

Thank you! I really needed some help with that grass. I've never tried to give the impression of an upward slope before, so I was sort of going by trial and error. I think I'll try continuing the texture on further and see how that goes. I'm certainly be practicing the grass and clouds in the future.

Oh my goodness. This is so stunning! First thing I noticed was that gorgeous shading. It's so awesome, I love how you used colours other than just brown for a bay coat. The different colours make it really pop. It looks so realistic like I could just reach out and touch the horse.
