Description
Happy 2012! I hope you all are enjoying the New Year as much as I.Ok! The first piece I'm submitting on deviant in the new year. This is part of something I created a while back called the "Ego Series" [link]
Sort of based of Frank Millers "Dark Knight Returns" story from the late 80's
I thought I'd show Bruce Wayne in his late 40's though.
THought that instead of making him a womanizing billionaire, playboy I'd make him more of a ruthless, money hungry, asshole of a business man who treats everyone around him like complete crap. From the press that interviews him to the employees that work under him. Sort of Gordon Gekko if yah will. Now even though this isn't who Bruce is subconsciously, he knows that if he Acts this way he must look the part. So I chose to grease back his hair, 5 o clock his face, drape him in an expensive suit and give him a smile to fit his endless sarcasm. A look that if he slid on a cheaper pair of threads, could pass as the some of the gangsters he pummel as the Bat.
Who would think an asshole like this would risk his life every night to save Gotham from the real ones. Not too many I'm thinking.

"THought that instead of making him a womanizing billionaire, playboy I'd make him more of a ruthless, money hungry, asshole of a business man who treats everyone around him like complete crap." --- Actually, this sounds like there would be no distinction between Bruce Wayne and post-1986 Batman. Staring with DKR, Batman's by and large been a total jerk to everyone around him, be they his JLA allies or the Robins and Batgirls. To have Bruce behave in a similar manner in his public face would basically be an explicit admission that Bruce Wayne is no different from what he claims to fight, regardless of what clothes he wears.
I know that's a popular and much-defended take on Batman, but I personally find it...off-putting, to say the least.

He looks too low class. If his suit was dark blue, his shirt white, and wearing a red power tie, then he would look like a real Wall Street A-hole.

That is a really nice mindset for him - I could actually more readily disbelieve that Bruce Wayne was NOT Batman if he acted this way. Nice playing of proportions and shapes, as always!

Lol man what an interesting interpretation. When I saw the thumbnail in my que I was like OMG wtf did Kizer do to Bruce?!?!?! Then I read the description and was like "You know...that totally fits, in a super weird way." XD! Good job.

Kinda like what Tony Stark used to do back when he started out, to keep his secret identity. He acted like a prick to everyone at work so no one would believe he could be a hero. Very cool concept and great art!

Mmmm... I dunno, I can see a power-greedy asshole throwing on a costume and beating the shit out of criminals more easily than a layabout playboy.
It's the dichotomy of personality that makes the secret identity plausible... partying billionaire Bruce Wayne is further away from the hardcore, razor-sharp detective Batman than a ruthless, merciless Gecko-type, who might easily be seen as acting in a vigilante fashion to let loose the violent impulses he can't embrace in the boardroom. He wouldn't be perceived as a savior, except by circumstance... he's not in it to help people, he's in it to hurt someone, and bad guys are an acceptable target.
Though I could see it working as the older Batman, one who's lost more friends and family and probably cares less if his secret identity is discovered...
