Description
So I was basically thinking of the points just before Robin decided on going solo and placing the blue and black tights on to become the Skull bashing, bullet dodging nocturnal "NightWing" we know him as today. So my thought of Dick Grayson before that change is as a high-school prep student that is extremely intelligent but sarcastic, rebellious, hot tempered and non-caring when it comes to the interaction with others. As robin he seems to be more serious, fearless and mentally darker than his past care-free self. I thought that maybe he had something to do with the design of the outfit as well. Giving it a more of a muted, modern and bad ass look to fit his attitude. To me Robin may have had his disagreements with the Bats which probably ultimately resulted in him leaving to do his own thing but I think he'll become just another Bat in a bird costume. What's your thought of Mr.Grayson fellow Dev?Tools>

Love the image design and concept. Both beautifully done.
My personal thought when it came to DG was that he was a social butterfly, open, and genuine, but as Robin, he must be more serious and reserved to not only protect the identity of himself, but those he care about and love. So almost the Robin persona is the ACT rather than the other way around, hence the independent thought that helped him evolve later into his own masked hero. Putting himself behind a mask that he could make his own rules rather than abide by those the Dark Knight set. --- but those are just my opinions of the character itself.

I never really saw him as "non-caring when it comes to the interaction with others."Β I always thought he was a more social person.Β Also considering he eventually is the leader of the Titans.

A bad ass Robin is a good Robin but he dosn't always have to be dark to kick butt like a boss. Take Young Justice Robin for example, a little smart ass troll that can kick your butt into next week and then prank you when you get back. This comes off a bit more Damian then the fun loving Dick. It does look amazing though.

I like how his "street clothes" reflect his Nightwing persona, as opposed to the bright, albeit slightly muted colors of the Robin outfit in this instance.
I dig this take on robin.Elements cuh as the open collar, the boots, and the subtle inclusion of the break in the tunic work very well. I can say I ike it much more than Eddy Barrow's dsign for the New 52. However, a key component is missing: a symbol. Something for punks to see and remember, an icon. Not something to be printed on t shirts, but a logo would really cement that this is Robin, the symbol of hope in Gotham City.

Great costume design! I've never been a huge Robin fan (I don't hate the character at all, he just never appealed to me much) but if this art was on the cover I'd be forced to look into it. If the interiors matched the covers, I'd pay for it and give the story a chance. I rarely buy a comic based on art alone, but this really grabs me. Love the logic of the design, love the muted colors and really like using the pop of the red holding line to unify the whole look.

The toned down suit looks awsome and gives hin a more serious look. I prefer the sarcastic and laid back robin that's still a little energetic and keeps some color to his personality because he still kind of is an acrobat & a performer. An air of seriousness does fit him though, considering he's an orphane who grew up in Gotham with a distant foster parent. All in all, great pic, I especially love the modified color schemes and designs.

Amusing how close this is to what became the YJ Robin costume, though I agree with the other posters that Dick not being sociable doesn't really work as that's one of the points of the character. Tim I could see maybe going down that road, but not Dick.

I love your work!!! It's awesome!! But Dick Grayson is known as a charmer, a talker, a natural leader, and a total ladies man. He gets along with everyone. This is why he's such a great foil to Batman's eternal loneliness and depression.

*sigh* No matter what happen Dick will always my favorite of the Robins. By far. Gotta say, this costume is much better than the green speedo that Batman made him wear!
Also, when looking at the Robin half of the picture I have this undeniable urge to go "woosh!"

Ohmfgsdkl;ajfkd I love your style! Dick was one of my favorite Robins because he set the bar pretty high (no acrobat pun intended) for the legacy of the Robins. In the beginning, he was so fun and carefree, really enjoying being Robin. That's why I really enjoyed Robin Year One. But he did take his role seriously, training hard and working his butt off. In Young Justice (the tv show not the comics), I'm not really happy that they made Dick so completely serious since this was supposed to be him in his younger days, but I guess it's alright, he makes a good contrast with Wally.

There is Already a Robin who is sarcastic, rebellious, hot tempered and non-caring. His name is Jason Todd so Technicly thats Jason then Dick. NO OFFENSE.

My favorite robin was Jason Todd, his story was sad, he died being a better robin than grayson.
by robin has always been a controvercial character anyways, I mean batman having a teenager be his sidekick was a bad move to begin with. but I will always like robin more, because he actually shows some humanity and acts like a kid dispite being a badass hero
