Description
So I sort of thought of Tony as a womanizing, Super intelligent, Incredibly mellow, Sarcastic, brilliant business minded, fast talking dude....whew. Which isn't all that different from how he is in the books now. The thing is that I feel that some of the way he acts is a way to avoid his past. The alcoholism, the take over of his company, him becoming homeless for a while, creating weapons of war for profit and of course the tragic death of his parents. So keeping his future in mind and his past out is what he does now. I think continuing to be visibly cool in public is a great way to prevent people from becoming suspicious of whose within the Iron suit as well. The birth of Iron man to me was kind of like the rebirth of how Tony saw war. It basically showed him that what he was doing was wrong. That selling WMD's wasn't the best way in solving conflicts between countries. Unfortunately he had to be imprisoned, forced to make a bomb and almost near death to see this but this was sort of his "At first I was blind but now I see" moment. But this again an opinion of mine.....what's yours?

I think he's an a-hole. Civil War taught me that.

I'm a huge Iron Man fan, even still after Civil War when I figured he was wrong. But I got why he was doing what he was.
I think you did miss one part about him : He's got a big "What are you going to do about it?" thing going on. That's the real point of the Iron Man armor. Like most weapon designers he was selling his best tools to other entities, who would act differently than he wanted. He lost control over his ideas and technology. So there comes Iron Man, the most advanced thing he has, thus those using Stark Technologies against how he thinks they should be used can be stopped. And there's nothing anyone can do about it.
See, Tony believes he is always right. That is re-enforced by the fact, that he can make anything happen that he wants regardless of who stands against him. He's never really had to be shown that he was wrong and the way things happened were in fact better. It also doesn't help that Reed Richards is there being Tony's yes man.

Whoosh, this is amazing.
You forgot one thing on Tony's personality though: he's a dick. Lately, anyways.

Amen.
I always imagined the red and gold Iron Man suit of the Layton Michelinie era to be quite comfortable.
Then again I like wearing a suit and tie with a lady or two on my arm so I can't be unbiased here.
I miss the late seventies comics. Back then.... and even some in the eighties comic book writing was sophisticated so being a dick didn't mean you were a bad guy...
I could write a paper on this.
When I am on a faster connection I'll take a look at your other pieces.

Fantastic, really, one of my favorite Marvel creations. You've done a great job of capturing Stark, always the man with a plan, and Iron man, who more than often was, himself, the plan.

What's great about these images is you have put such thought not only into the visual design of the characters but also into their personalities and psyches. It really comes through in the poses and attitudes. I agree with your take on Tony; he's gone through some rough stuff, and he's come out on the other side only because he's looking forward. Unfortunately, sometimes he doesn't do the best things because of how single-minded he is. Still, great characterization and great image. I love it!

I really like this art series. You have a way of seeing what's at the heart of the character.
One of the things I like about IronMan is how he compares to Batman. Though similar on the surface, they couldn't be more different. I wonder who would win in a fight...?

i'm basically where your head's at with tony stark...awesome rendition here, man. i especially dig the fact that it looks like he's wearing vans, most artists just lazily put him in a suit but he's a multi-billionaire - he can afford a stylist!
my one (minuscule) beef is the pentagon/triangular chestplate thingamy, i've always preferred it the original round way and not the 'hey-i'm-kryptonian!' way; thankfully thats the way they went with the movie.

Beautiful! The only thing that I don't like too much is the fingers on Iron Man. If you drew them all either the way you drew the first finger (pointer) or the third (ring finger), it would look fine, but it seems like every finger was drawn differently. Nontheless, I really like your style. You might want to gussy up the beam coming from his hand and the rocket boot flame thingy though. Also, if you raised the trajectory of the hand beam, I think you'd get a lovely line out of his entire body.
As for Tony, my only problem with him is his left eyebrow. It looks like the left side of the brow is going up instead of the brow being arched. I'm also not too fond of his mustache, but that's the character design, not your artwork.

He had a tumour, remember? He does all hsi good stuff because that tumour made him see life differently. The getting imprisoned thing was what resulted in the armour itself.

Weird thing about Tony/Iron Man is that both are kinda jackasses but in ways you somewhat wouldn't expect them to be the same person if you didn't know any better.
