I FREAKIN' LOVE THE 1980s!! Kimber from Jem and the Holograms. [link] Done for 's Jem Week. The 1980s Jem and Transformers exist in the same universe, so I discreetly snuck Blaster and Eject into this picture. I doubt anyone will notice, as they are robots in disguise. Eject, being a microcassette, shouldn't be bigger than all hell, but the Transformers were never ones to worry about scale issues.All these characters belong to Hasbro.

I think that Soundwave would have been a better choice. It would have been more...ominous. Also, Jem is hot. I need a girlfriend.

I just thought Blaster's obnoxious color scheme was a good fit and the handle he has (which Soundwave doesn't) worked well with the pose I wanted. And yeah, Jem is hot, but Kimber is hotter.

I think the obnoxious colors of Blaster suit Jem characters better. Still, Soundwave is my wife's favorite as he has a "sexy" voice and is good with animals. Soundwave gets a lot of love around this house.

Soundwave IS pretty awesome, I have to admit it. He's my favorite of the 2, but I liked the colors of Blaster. He reminds me of Save By the Bell's opening. >.<

Never pictured myself as doing a Jem related picture, but an image popped into my head and I just couldn't resist a trip back to the 80's. I watched some various clips from the show, and it was way crazier than I remember. There was an improbable amount of car/boat accidents, tiger attacks, people trying to blow each other up with time bombs, time travel catastrophes, dudes wrestling bears and hippie infestations. They got away with all sorts of stuff in the '80s that censors wouldn't allow in the 90's. Most notable to me, scenes of guys punching each other in the face and smacking women upside the head in fits of rage. If you watch Batman the Animated Series, for example, the punches to the face are usually implied, rather than shown, in order to get past the censors.

Yes, I remember how GI Joe often ended in fist fights, and no one- despite all of the bullets (or lasers) flying ever got killed.
That is why Transformers the Movie was so shocking to me.

Jem is a bit of a flashback for me, but Generation One Transformers are everyday of my life. I thought about putting in a G.I. Joe and an Inhumanoid character, because they also belong in the same world, but that would have been so much flashback in one place that heads would have exploded. Well, my head would have exploded from the effort and I like my head, so I didn't.
