= Full View =- Well, this is one of the MANY self portraits that I have had to do in my life . . . but I still think that it turned out rather well. Even though traditional pieces never look as nice in photographs as they do in person.
- - The assignment was a "straight-forward" self portrait. From about shoulders up, using a mirror to give it a more intimate/personal feel to it as apposed to a strange pose or facial expression that is more "staged".
Done in graphite = 22x30

I love the shadows around your eyes.
And the general detail all over. Your shading rocks, and as always I am left wondering how in the world you shade things to the point that it looks like you draped a dark grey t-shirt over the bottom of a drawing.

Dislikes - The thickness of your neck as it approaches your head on your left side. Seems a little odd, but then again . . . we are talking about you here, j/k.
- The difference in shoulder heights. Are you a hunchback? It just seems really off to me on your right side.
- Your eyes and nose. They are drawn well, but your expression is just so . . . BLANK. Your eyes look like they were copied off of a bloodhound.
Likes - EVERYTHING else about it. This is a piece of work. You seem to have captured yourself extremely well.
Super Likes - Your Hair. So smooth, and so . . . well, so awesome.
- Shirt. Simply amazing. The folds are very, VERY impressive.
Nice work indeed. I know how much you LOVE doing these, so I should have you do one of me sometime, lol. Nah, I wouldn't want to put you through that. Staring at a picture of me for that long wouldn't be good for anyone . . .

First off *dies* x___x I don't think you have commented on anything I have put up here in like a year
- The shoulders are different because my right arms is resting up higher and the other arm is down. And the expression is really blank because it would be hard to hold an expression for several hours while drawing.
- - But thank you ^~^ . . . and if you really do ever need me to do a realistic drawing for you, just let me know a long time in advance . . . or ask over the summer

All I did in PS was play with the darks and lights to try and get them to look more like they do in real life. Because they were really washed out in the pic . . . I still think it looks much better in person ^~^

a great likeness, though! my first one looked soo not like me : P now try for some cast shadows and real core shadows next time, maybe a sweet pose/expression~ buahaha

See, now I said the same thing . . . that I felt like I was cheating by using lighting like that. But everyone said that's the one that I should do. (out of the three thumbs that I brought in) so yeah . . .

ANYWAY! I really like the er, glow you seem to give off. It really makes a nice contrast between the light and the dark. As a pencil artist, it's awesome to see other peoples' styles when using graphite. It's neato.
It's so hard to draw from a mirror, too! Kudos!

That is badass! You're awesome with a pencil. I really like the shadows on the face, and how the shirt turned out. From a mirror? That's incredibly hard for me to do, since every time I looked up, I was at a different angle, lol.

haha yeah, it can be a bit annoying when your hair moves, or wrinkles in your shirt. Then you just kinda have to make it up a little and go with it ^^
