It's like my version of X-Blade...
to separate half and half to be different from which Realm it's genuinely from..
Then again it's so different in it's own way.
Kudos to you, my good sir!

Why, thank you~ ^_^ (Although I didn't design it, I just drew it in a ridiculously large Photoshop document x_x)
I like yours, too, for the record. Especially the fins—you took SE's original X-Blade design and put your own twist to it, even if you're dissatisfied with the result. *pats on back*

Wait. You're saying that drawn art is difficult, but creating a 3D model is easy? Or did you mean splicing models together?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
corfidbizna In reply to AuraXtreme [2015-01-27 04:32:20 +0000 UTC]
Well y'see, building the model and drawing the picture take about the same effort, but then the model exists in 3D space and you can do whatever the heck you want with it. For example, when I drew Ventus , I built a model of his Keyblade, posed it how I wanted, then traced it.
I'm actually working on a 3D model of this thing and am nearly done. That way I can get it at a nice perspective angle like it is in the game, which was what I had in mind originally.

I think so, too. But if it is, then Xehanort's in for quite the shock~
I actually didn't notice the Hidden Mickey until I was looking at my reference for this… I was drawing that section and noticed on my reference that it was Mickey-shaped, although I can't say I was surprised to see it. Did you also notice, though, that the Keychain for this thing is the same as the one on Kairi's Keyblade but with a blue rope instead of red?
Thank you~! ^_^ I try to make things as accurate as possible, and this Keyblade was no exception. (Took me four months to draw though x_x)

I honestly don't get why everyone's hating on Mickey. Honestly. Yeah, I know he's a Disney character, but he's also a freaking paladin and a cherished childhood memory turned badass. I don't quite get it. And now that you mention it, I didn't even notice it had a Keychain.

corfidbizna In reply to AuraXtreme [2013-09-18 23:35:46 +0000 UTC]
I agree with you; I think the deal with Mickey is that his symbol is everywhere (in-game) for seemingly no particular in-universe reason. Although I can understand where they're coming from on that point specifically, I don't think it's necessarily a direct correlation between Mickey and whatever the symbol's on (like the door to Kingdom Hearts). I imagine that, in-universe, the symbol is on this Keyblade for the same reason it's on Sora's Keychain—whatever that reason may be.
The Keychain is so small on the 3DS screen I couldn't get quite a good look at it either. I was playing BBS afterward, however, and when Aqua got the Destiny's Embrace Keychain (which is identical to Kairi's Keyblade) I noticed that the Keychains looked awfully similar… I later confirmed it by comparing the model of Kairi's Keyblade to this Keyblade, but you get the gist.

Being a fanfic writer has its downsides, but my guess would be that the icon that is known out-of-universe as the Hidden Mickey actually has its roots in the common theme of 'trinity'. Light, darkness, between. Sword, Shield, Rod. That kind of thing. Mickey, being King frickin' Mickey, uses a lot of trinity (alternately, Yen Sid did say Mickey used to be rather foolish...) and so adapted it as his seal. Sora also ends up in a lot of trinities (him, Riku, Kairi; him, Donald, Goofy; Islanders, Departurers, Nobodies; etc), which is most likely why he ended up with a 'Hidden Mickey' on his Keyblade (alternately, the Keyblade having a 'Hidden Mickey' on its Keycain could be the reason for Sora ending up in a whole lot of trinities).
Sorry, I'm rambling.

Oh no, you're fine. I do the same thing all the time ^_^
That's actually a good point though… I hadn't though of it like that. It actually explains a good many things. For example: there are three types of Keyblade (light, darkness, and heart); the X-blade is technically all three of them. There are three elements to a person (body, will, and heart)… And like you said: there's a lot of groups of three.
I'll have to sort out the kinks in my brain, but that's a really good insight on your part! Thanks a bunch for the epiphany, AuraX~! C:

I'm gonna sound like such a pretentious ass, but it's χ. The Greek letter, chi. I tend to call it the Chi:blade in ordinary conversation because I can't be bothered to keep a χ on my clipboard all the time, but it just BOTHERS me when people use an X instead of a χ.

corfidbizna In reply to AuraXtreme [2014-10-18 05:20:11 +0000 UTC]
T_T I'm sorry~! I've since then kept a text document with a χ so I can access it easily, but I didn't back then.
…but out of curiosity, do you think it would be okay to type X instead of χ? 'Cause that's slightly easier at least.

AuraXtreme In reply to corfidbizna [2014-10-18 06:31:33 +0000 UTC]
That's still an X, and most online text functions don't even allow subscript. Like I said, I sound like a pretentious ass, but I write literations (novelizations, whatever), I'm a horrible person who is obsessed with correctness. Holy crap, Chrome says that's a word, correctness. If it's easier, just write Chi:blade. Redirect someone to me if they call you out on it. That way, you're still getting a chi involved, but it's kinder to your memory.
On a related note, I sincerely hope that's the whole Greek Alphabet (or at least a variety of uncommon common symbols) because a text file purely for one character is insane.

Hm… Yes, I suppose I really don't have an excuse, do I? *Nervous laugh*…
My only problem with the Chi:blade method is that for English speakers the collection of letters that make up "chi" can be mispronounced (well, at least as far as a Kingdom Hearts context is concerned). I know before I became adamant against KH spoilers and read the wiki articles I always figured it was 'kye' or even 'chai'. Still, as I've said I've been trying to use the correct letter since then, and being somewhat of a stickler myself I get how you feel. x_x
Yeah, the document contains all sorts of random stuff that I rarely use, including but not limited to χ. I always keep a text editor open, so the document (plus a to-do list, a list of URLs, and a かな chart) are always open. For χ though, I've got a folder dedicated to Kingdom Heats χ that I can get the letter from if I remember in time.

AuraXtreme In reply to corfidbizna [2014-10-20 18:52:23 +0000 UTC]
Well, Kai-blade is an acceptable pronunciation; it's just that Chi:blade is the preferred form (Oddly enough, I've actually used that as a plot point, in a novelization, of a game that perpetually uses one pronunciation). I myself often refer to it as the Kai-blade in vocal conversation so as to not confuse people.
The fact that you went through the trouble of copypasting かな instead of just writing "kana" tells me a little about how frequently that chart is used. Is that supposed to refer to the game, Kingdom Hearts χ [chi]?

corfidbizna In reply to AuraXtreme [2014-10-21 22:17:11 +0000 UTC]
Indeed, as Master Xehanort says: the meaning is the same regardless of the pronunciation. Although making sure the person you're talking to understands whether you're talking about the χ-blade or a generic Keyblade is important too, eh? ^_^
I've got directories dedicated to each Kingdom Hearts game, so the folder for χ is the one I usually get the letter from. I just have it in the document also 'cause I almost always forget I've got a KHχ folder.

Pay attention to the voice tracks when they're talking; often enough to be noticeable, the χ-blade is pronounced as Key Blade, extending it vocally to two words. I use the written form Chi:blade becaude of how I say it out loud; "Chi" really quick, pause for half a second, "blade".

Indeed… They usually pause or (as in Jesse McCartney's case) put a lot of emphasis on the 'K' and put a little bit of the 'ch' sound in there, like when Ventus is talking to Master Eraqus or to Terra and Aqua.

AuraXtreme In reply to corfidbizna [2014-10-22 21:16:26 +0000 UTC]
Yes. That's the disadvantage to writing off spoken word; you need to find a different way to make it work. I generally have people using "Chi:blade" as the giveaway that they're not in a friendly state (Ventus when he's possessed, Terra when he's gone dark, etc).
