Description (F/n) took a bite of her sandwich, looking up to glance across the café. It was her favorite place to write papers; busy enough to encourage productivity, but not too loud as to ruin her concentration. She scanned the screen, admiring her progress on the report, a seven page history paper due the next day. All she had to do was proofread her draft, maybe correct a few errors, and voila! It would be done. She wiped off her fingers with a napkin, preparing to type once more.

The only problem with the university’s café was how (f/n) always seemed to run into people she knew at the worst times.

“I thought I spotted you across the floor.”

(F/n) paused in her writing, not daring to look up at the man addressing her. She already knew who it was, simply based on his voice.

“Hello, Oikawa.” (F/n) mumbled, doing her best to keep her train of thought as she wrote the final sentences of her draft. She could only hope that he’d get the message and not stop to pull up a chair.

She heard the legs of a stool dragging against the tile floor.

Damnit.

“So,” he chirped, his arms resting on the table, “what are you up to?”

“Writing,” she answered shortly, trying her best not to encourage him.

Oikawa whined, “You’re always working! Why don’t you take a break for a night? My team’s throwing a party at Iwaizumi’s house tonight—he doesn’t really know about it yet, so don’t mention it to him—but you should come! Take a load off, relax, ya’ know?”

(F/n) was fully aware of the reputation of the volleyball team’s parties. They were loud, and always packed with members of the “in crowd.” It was exactly the kind of place that she did her best to avoid. (F/n) looked up at Oikawa,

“You know parties aren’t really my thing.”

“Don’t knock ‘em ‘till you try them!” He countered, leaning closer from across the table to close the lid of her laptop slightly, “when was the last time you let loose?”

(F/n) let out an audible sigh, opening it once more to continue typing,

“Oikawa. I just don’t have time, okay?”

“Okay, okay!” he put up his hands defensively, “how about next weekend?”

At this point (f/n)’s annoyance was about to hit its boiling point. She knew that Oikawa couldn’t stand the thought of someone not liking him. That’s obviously why he pressed her so hard: constantly inviting her to parties, sending her messages out of the blue, and “dropping by” her dorm just to say hello. The boy was interested in the chase, simple as that. But she had no interest in playing along with such silly games.

Especially not with Oikawa Tooru.

“I’m busy next weekend.”

“What are you busy with?”

“Working.” She deadpanned.

“I’m sure we can work someth—“

“(F/n)!”

Both heads turned in the direction of the noise, to find Sugawara Koushi standing in the doorway, grinning ear to ear.

The girl straightened, waiving her classmate over,

“Suga! Come sit with us!”

Something flashed in her eyes, but only Sugawara knew (f/n) well enough to recognize the look.

“Sure!” he smiled, ignoring Oikawa’s protests.

“How has your day been?” the girl asked as he pulled up a chair.

He stretched his arms far above his head, letting out a theatrical yawn,

“It’s been such a long week, I don’t know how you do it, (f/n).” Sugawara smiled brightly across the table at the girl.

“Suga, we take the same classes! You do just as much work!”

The boy straightened, glancing over at Oikawa momentarily before continuing,

“Actually, I’m really happy I ran into you. I just met up with professor Takeda and he wanted to meet with us to talk about our group project.”

(F/n) did her best to hide her smirk,

“When did he say to meet?”

The boy looked at (f/n) solemnly, really playing up the theatrics,

“All he said was ‘as soon as possible.’”

The girl began to shuffle around her papers, standing up to throw away the remainder of her sandwich. Not being able to take being left out anymore, Oikawa rose, leaning across the table in a show of sly desperation.

“You can’t at least finish lunch with me before you go?” His glittering eyes could melt the coldest of hearts, but (f/n) knew better than to take a second glance.

“Sorry, Oikawa, but I really have to go and sort this out.”

He pouted in a final attempt to keep the girl from leaving.

“Fine. I’ll text you though, maybe we can hang out next week?”

Sugawara hid his smile with the sleeve of his coat as (f/n) responded,

“You do that.”

With a final goodbye, the two left the café, taking great pains to discuss their “group project” in excruciating detail until Oikawa was out of earshot. (F/n) switched the subject as soon as the café door closed behind them.

“Thanks for helping me out back there, I owe you one.”

“No you don’t! It’s the least I could do… he’s really persistent, isn’t he?”

(F/n) sighed,

“I just don’t know why he doesn’t just give up already. I mean, I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m not interested…”

“It’s Oikawa we’re talking about here,” Suga snickered, “you’re probably one of the only girls to ever turn him down in his life.”

“I suppose…” (f/n) pondered.

Silence broke out between the two of them,

“So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?”

“I was going to finish my paper, but I don’t know where to go where Oikawa won’t look for me.”

“What about your dorm room?”

“He likes to ‘drop by’ there.”

Sugawara tilted his head toward the sky, crying out dramatically,

“God he’s persistent!”

“I told you!” (F/n) gloated, playfully jabbing Sugawara in the side.

“You can finish the paper at my place, if you want.”

The girl shook her head furiously, “No no, I’ve caused you enough trouble for one day.”

“Seriously? C’mon, you’re no trouble at all! I like spending time with you!”

“Well…” (f/n) pondered, “I don’t want to distract you from your work, though.”

“I finished up my work for the night, so it’s really no trouble.”

After a few moments (f/n) looked toward Sugawara and smiled brightly,

“Lead the way.”

UGGGHHH I WISH!!
What really happened (is happening?? Tenses are annoying) is that there's a guy who I met who WILL NOT stop texting me and stuff, and he joined one of the clubs that I'm in which is really annoying because I go their to relax but now I can't because he's there!!

Where is Suga when you need him??

I know, right, all of us need a Suga...  All the boys my age are constantly swearing and making disgusting references, I'm not quite sure what to think about them...

weeelll good luck with that... I have no experience with guys like that... the only one I remotely like has Oikawa/Kageyama/Kuroo personality (AND I TELL YOU IT'S SERIOUSLY ANNOYING - he constantly thinks greatly of himself and then trashtalks and then OH GOSH I seriously want to wring his neck, he thinks he's the smartest person in the world but he's probably the dumbest) Sometimes I seriously wish I could date an anime character. SO much better than real life...

Anyway thanks for that wonderful reader fic They always make my day.
