Description
The last drawing I did before injuring my thumb (it's getting better, btw). The linework was originally done as my entry for the BZPower BrickFair T-shirt contest. A part of me is glad I didn't win, because I wouldn't have gotten the chance to color it and all, ha ha.

For those who aren't familiar with the Bionicle universe, Takanuva here is the prophesied Seventh Toa of the 2003 story-line, destined to rid the island of Mata Nui of Makuta (basically a dark-lord figure who's oppressing the island's inhabitants, the hobbit-like Matoran). This scene here was originally supposed to depict Takanuva when he makes his descent into Makuta's lair (as evident by the subterranean feel of the background) and surrounded in shadow. Unfortunately, the shadow effect I added caused the scene to become busy in a bad way, a way that didn't work with Takanuva's pose, so I went with more of a poster look instead.

September marks the 10th anniversary of Bionicle: Mask of Light (golly, I feel old), and I want to thank Greg Farshtey and the rest of the Bionicle Team for a ten-year adventure I'll never forget, and the fifty-one comic-books that inspired me to start drawing a wider range of subjects when I was only comfortable sketching the occasional dragon.

Note: Listed under sci-fi because there is no science-fantasy category (yes, it's a genre; look at Star Wars).
