Description The Arrangement of Obento.

Traditionally it is made in a 4: 3: 2: 1 ration: 4 parts rice, 3 parts side (fish or meat), 2 parts vegetables, and 1 part of picked vegetables or dessert. But really you can put just about anything you want inside.

For this tutorial i used a sort of two halfs. one half is the 4 parts rice, the other half makes up the 3 parts side, 2 parts veggi, & 1 part dessert.

Foods used: Homemade Shrimp tempura, short grained white rice, egg furikake, salad *lettace, spinich, carrot, avacado* egg, and peach hard candy.

Really, you can arrange obento in any shape or form you like. Creativity is up to you. this tutorial is to just give an idea or give you a beginner's start.

Tutorial based off of ~sake-bento 's version.

um sorry to intrude but if that doesn't work you can always try Micheals or Hobby Lobby just some craft stores but they do have alot of stuff you just have to look.

also if you can't find anything for traditional Japanese bento use things that you already have like toothpicks, cupcake paper, or cookie cutters for making your rice into shapes

Wow! That looks very nice!!!

I found a new Asian grocery in the area this week, so I'm gonna have to make something nice (sushi! sushi!!)!!! Your art/meals are inspirational and your tutorials are very helpful.

What type of furikake do you normally use, by the way?
