Description OMG sooo loong =A=
making tutorials are harrrd >o<

well here it is folks. My highly requested sky tutorial.

Don't hesitate to ask me any questions. I'll try my best to answer them!

I usually do pretty quick 'n simple skies, but this one takes more time to paint because of all the little stuff.

Rergardless, I really enjoyed making this tutorial~ I feel like an editor or something haha~

anywayz, enjoy!

Hello,

Perhaps try sticking with simple colors to start with. Grey for shadows and pure white for highlights. I'd block out the cloud shapes first to make sure the composition (fluffynes) of the clouds look ok to me then highlight only a tiny bit on the edge where it is exposed to the light source. Hope that helps!

I love your painting technique but I do have one comment. The gradient should be flipped. As we go up the sky becomes darker, not lighter. That's because at higher altitudes there is less light reflected. When you paint the opposite (like you did here) it looks confusing. Just look at photos with skies for reference to know what I mean.

Anyway, thanks for the tutorial especially the tip of zooming out while working rough.

one thing that stands out in this pic is the sun. That's becuz the blue sky and yellow sun are both really bright colors, which creates a competing contrast.
and if you look at the sun, with sun glasses, they aren't really yellow. They're more of a blinding white color, except during sunsets. So maybe go for that or remove the sun altogether becuz it sits at an odd place in the sky.

the clouds looks nice. If you add more circle shapes, the clouds will look more fluffy.

lastly, the grass is a good addition but maybe adjust the color to a more unsaturated color so it doesn't compete with the sky's color. u can quickly adjust the color by selecting your grass layer, then go to edit>adjustments>brightness and contrast and adjust to your liking.

hope that helps. if u have any more questions, please ask and i'll try my best to answer them!

Thanks! I'd forgot to upload a new one I drew a few days ago. [link]

I tried to keep the sun white and less seen.

this one's nicer in terms of a whole.

i know that you're going to fuzzy clouds, but you can still add some sharp or textured strokes here and there just to make it more interesting.

I'm still very n00bish when it comes to painting digitally, mostly I think cuz I don't see any improvement. But I'll totally try out some of the things you mentioned here. It was a very easy-to-read tutorial.
Thank you<3

i know what u mean! improvement came very slow for me too, especially on photoshop >.< but don't worry, cuz i'm sure u can only get better with time!
btw, if you're struggling with color, maybe find a color theory tut. It helped me : )
